Former Mississippi Gov. Ray Mabus, who served as U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia during the Clinton administration, is joining Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign as an unpaid adviser on Middle Eastern issues.

Mabus told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he'll also travel around the nation to make campaign appearances for the Illinois senator.

"I think that Obama, more than anybody else, has a chance to unify this country," Mabus said. "This country has been so divided, particularly by this administration, that I think (Obama) is talking about problems in a different way. I think he's a new voice from a new generation. That's what America needs now."

Mabus, now 58, was Mississippi governor from January 1988 to January 1992, serving during a slump in the state's economy. While supporters praised his efforts to move Mississippi's schools off the bottom of national rankings, opponents said he left a state budget that was stretched too thin.

Mabus lost his 1991 re-election bid to blunt-spoken contractor Kirk Fordice, who became Mississippi's first Republican governor since Reconstruction.

Mabus was governor when another young Democrat, Bill Clinton, was governor of Arkansas. After Clinton became president, he appointed Mabus to the ambassadorship. Mabus held the job in Saudi Arabia from 1994-96.

Now, Clinton's wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, is running for president.

Asked why he's not supporting Hillary Clinton, Mabus said: "This is about being for somebody and not about being against anybody."

Political scientist Marty Wiseman said Mabus, who has been working in private business since returning from the ambassadorship, "may have been out of the limelight a little too long for just the name to contribute much."

"On the other hand, it doesn't hurt to have a former ambassador to Saudi Arabia advising on Middle Eastern issues," said Wiseman, director of Mississippi State University's John C. Stennis Institute of Government.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Mabus will have "a leadership role in the campaign in Mississippi and across the nation."

Mabus serves on the advisory board for the Center for Middle East Public Policy at the RAND Corporation, a nonprofit research group. He's also on the board of directors of America-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc., a Washington-based nonprofit group designed to strengthen ties among the U.S., the Middle East and north Africa.

Mabus is not the only Mississippi politician to publicly endorse a 2008 presidential candidate.

Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering in February became the Mississippi chairman and Southern co-chairman for the campaign of Sen. John McCain of Arizona. In a news release, Pickering called McCain "a proven leader in national security."

Gov. Haley Barbour, a former Republican National Committee chairman, has said he'll wait to endorse a presidential candidate.

Mabus said he does not know whether Obama will make campaign stops in Mississippi, a state that last gave its presidential electoral votes to a Democrat in 1976.

First off, I am sorry. Sorry if I got you to this page by being dramatic. I needed to get your attention to let you know what I have been looking into. And I am going to address your concerns immediately. I am a completely rational, calm, thougtful person. Here is what you are thinking: "you are crazy, you are racist. Barack Obama is a caring and thoughtful individual. We have finally found someone to unite the country. He has brought hope for everyone. You are just a wacko. Just because he is a great speaker does not mean he is the "antichrist". People are always claiming someone is the Antichrist. This is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard, he is such a nice guy, just trying to help change the world in a positive way, and you have to go about bashing his name. He is just trying to change the same old type of negative politics, we finally have someone refreshing and you have to go out and say these rediculous things."

You know what? I agree with you. I think Barack Obama is one of the most inspiring people have ever heard. I feel goosebumps and pride when I hear him talk. I am really pumped and excited at his progress, the chance to have a black president in our lifetime? Sensational. He hasn't been hitting below the belt and has had a lot of grassroots support. He wants to bring healthcare and education to everyone, I think that is fantastic. You and I are on the same page. Okay, I see it, Barack appears to be the best thing that has ever happened to us. Now that you see we are not so different, all I am going to ask of you is to have an open mind. Just allow yourself to consider this option for a few minutes, even if you immediately shrug it off.

I am a Christian, I think we should have healthcare for everyone, I think no one should go hungry, I think women's rights, minorities rights, equal rights is incredibly important. Here is my argument and your counterpoints:

Barack Hussein Obama is a great speaker (who isn't? Bill Clinton)

He is a charistmatic political leader (Martin Luther King was a great leader)

The masses are enthralled by him, everywhere he goes he packs the building (so does Hannah Montana)

Everyone chants after him "yes we can" (People chant stuff all the time)

His name is unique and should be disturbing, but it has not held him back
Barack = Iraq. Hussein = Saddam Husssein. Obama = Osama. This is sort of crazy his name sounds like everything that we fear in the world (its just a name get over it)

He has done very little in politics to be the leading candidate (So was Bill Clinton)

He is a junior Senator, barely known to the world until 1 speech he gave in 2004 at the DNC (he's good at speeches, ok)

People keep reffering to him as a messiah (He is gathering and inspiring people)

Okay, so far a lot of the reasons I have, you have good counter arguments for.
I am not saying I have conclusive evidence, all I am saying is I had one of the strongest feelings I have every had when I saw his 2004 DNC speech that he might be the Antichrist. I will start to get into the biblical and scriptual arguments next, and for those of you who aren't Christians, or don't like Christians you probably wont care or believe in anything I have to say, so don't waste your time. If you don't believe in the Bible, you aren't going to believe in biblical arguments...


The next post will get into Biblical arguments for those who are interested in digging a little deeper, or who have at least given me a chance to follow my logic

I maintain that this delusion put upon the world is the great deception promised by God. He said He would send this delusion to the world in the end times to fool the very elect. Why? Because of their unbelief in the Word of God sent the first time.

This is the reason why "God shall send them strong delusion, "that they should believe a lie." They will believe what that Wicked "shows" himself to be: God. And that will lead to their damnation!

Do you get that? They will believe it because God will cause them to believe it. There will be no escape at that time.

So, can this comet be classified as 'signs in the heavens' ? Is this comet a harbinger of doom or just another pretty light in the sky. One could make a case for either scenario.

But choose wisely, and prayerfully for,
