Binyamin Netanyahu told Israel Radio Thursday that President Bush promised him that the U.S. will join Israel in a nuclear strike on Iran

Veterans for Common Sense.org – January 10, 2008

Wire Services - US President George W. Bush promised Israel's opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu that the United States will join the Jewish state in a nuclear strike against Iran, Israel Radio reported today.

(Btw 'join' means this would be an admittance Israel has nukes if Netanyahu really said it that way ...)

Former Prime Minister Netanyahu, opposition Likud party's hardline chairman who opposes the US-backed Annapolis peace process, reiterated to President Bush his stance, that a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Iran's nuclear installations was the only way to stop the Islamic nation's nuclear weapons ambitions.

"I told him my position and Bush agreed," Netanyahu told Israel Radio.

During their 45-minute meeting at King David hotel in Jerusalem Netanyahu also told Bush that "Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people and will remain under Israeli sovereignty for eternity."

President Bush issued a stark warning to Iran over Strait of Hormuz incident, saying that "all options are on the table to protect our assets."

“There will be serious consequences if they attack our ships, pure and simple,” Bush said during the joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem. “And my advice to them is, don't do it.”

Bush criticized those who interpret the National Intelligence Estimate, which found that Iran gave up its nuclear weapons program in 2003, as a sign that Iran was no longer a threat.

"Let me remind you what the NIE actually said," Bush told reporters. "It said that as far as the intelligence community could tell, at one time the Iranians had a military -- covert military program that was suspended in 2003 because of international pressure. My attitude is that a non-transparent country, a country which has yet to disclose what it was up to, can easily restart a program."

Not good retorict, but I doubt America will be directly invloved if that does happen, even though I think it would be a benefit to not only us, but the world. A "a non-transparent country,"?

He must be talking about Israel.

President Bush is most definitely an "Emperor who has no clothes"...talk about transparent!

He`s definitely on a mission ,that is, a suicide mission for Israel.

I only hope the children of the President, Congress and the Supreme Court fight and die for their "trump" up war on terror.

Along with all the Hyksos of Israel.

Hopefully the farm boys and girls of middle-class America will be left out of this one.

Oh shit.

My prediction. Three tac nukes, maybe 4. Mostly near the Gulf area. Not much if any up north near Natanz and Tehran.
Just getting rid of a non existant nuclear weapons program is not what this is about. So penetrating nukes are really not going to be used.

No, its not channeled info, or super secret stuff from someone in Norway. Just logic. If it happens thats how it will pan out.

And some of you doubt that Bush would promise this to Israel? Hell, promise them anything, give them jack shit has been his campaign slogan for years! Why are you surprised? In eight months someone else will have to deal with it, and for the intervening months, they can probably avoid an attack being necessary - please God!

Bush may be doing this to give Israel a confidence that if they make that first strike and use the big guns (Nukes) that the US will stand there like a big brother on the play ground daring anyone to strike back at Israel. Iran, however will be a bunch of green glass in the desert sands and stay that way for another 500 years or so, by the time it all comes together.

Islamic law prohibits production of nuclear arms: Leader

TEHRAN - Iran’s religious leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has stated that the Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that Iran opposes the production and use of nuclear weapons in principle from an Islamic point of view.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced that in principle, based on sharia (Islamic law), it is opposed to the production and use of nuclear weapons,” the Supreme Leader told IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei on Saturday.

The Leader insisted that it is essential that the International Atomic Energy Agency remains an independent body.

“In regard to the current positive international atmosphere surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities, a speedy resolution of this issue will be considered an important test and a great success for the International Atomic Energy Agency,” Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.

Referring to Iran’s principled stance to fully observe international treaties, the Leader stated, “According to this principle, the Islamic Republic of Iran has fulfilled its commitments to the NPT.”

The Leader said the arrogant powers are not happy about the independence of the UN nuclear watchdog. “Their anger over the agency’s position that no diversion has been found in Iran’s nuclear activities is a strong indication of this,” he noted.

There is no justification for Iran’s nuclear dossier to remain on the agenda of the UN Security Council, he added.

The Supreme Leader expressed hope that the remaining issues over the country’s nuclear program would be resolved as soon as possible.

ElBaradei said the Islamic Republic is an important partner of the IAEA, adding that in recent months there has been good cooperation between Iran and the agency with the goal of clearing up all the ambiguities.

“Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for developing the country,” he asserted.

ElBaradei said negotiation is the only solution to the nuclear issue and voiced hope that Iran’s nuclear dossier would be returned to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The UN nuclear watchdog chief arrived in Tehran on Friday for talks over Iran’s nuclear program in line with a modality plan agreed by both sides in August last year.

In a press conference with Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Gholamreza Aqazadeh on Friday, ElBaradei lauded the growing cooperation between the Islamic Republic and the IAEA, saying, “The positive atmosphere created through talks between Iran and the agency has had a very positive effect on the entire Middle East.”

Iran regards IAEA as only partner in nuclear issue

President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that Iran regards the IAEA as the only body authorized to investigate the country’s nuclear activities.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran recognizes the agency as the only negotiating partner in the nuclear issue,” Ahmadinejad told ElBaradei in a separate meeting.

The president expressed hope that the major powers’ pressure would not cause the UN nuclear watchdog to shirk its duty to carry out its mandate in a manner based on justice.

“Some countries imagine that the (International) Atomic Energy Agency has been established to pursue their policies, and this conception is not fair.”

“Nuclear energy is a divine gift and within the next 20 to 30 years, (all) countries’ demand for this energy will multiply. All countries should be provided with legal opportunities to utilize this clean energy,” the president stated.

“The view propagated by the arrogant powers that nuclear energy means an atomic bomb” should be abandoned, Ahmadinejad added.

ElBaradei said that Iran’s nuclear program is moving in the right direction.

He called for further expansion of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA to clear up the remaining differences over Tehran’s nuclear activities

Adventuristic U.S. promoting Iranophobia

TEHRAN - Certain U.S. factions are still pursuing adventuristic policies in the region and promoting Iranophobia, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here on Sunday in reference to the recent Strait of Hormuz incident.

U.S. defense officials on January 6 accused Iranian naval forces of threatening to blow up U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz, a charge Iranian officials vehemently denied.

The U.S. Navy released footage purportedly showing Iranian speedboats menacing U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf, but later the Pentagon admitted that the sound recording in the film may not have emanated from the Iranian vessels.

“The United States has brought another scandal upon itself at the beginning of the new year,” Hosseini told reporters at his weekly press briefing.

They have caused a commotion in an attempt to help U.S. President George W. Bush realize the objectives of his Middle East tour, he stated.

It is a common practice for coastal defense forces in the Persian Gulf to ask passing vessels to identity themselves and state their objectives, and “the United States should apologize to Iran, regional states, and also to U.S. citizens,” he added.

Bush started a Middle East tour on Wednesday, beginning with Israel, with the goal of convincing Persian Gulf states Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia to support Israel and oppose Iran.

The real objective behind Bush’s visit is to promote “fear of Iran”, Hosseini said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman advised the U.S. president to revise his policies during his remaining time in office in order to reduce the pressure on U.S. citizens.

Iran will answer all nuclear questions by March 20

“We are prepared to answer all the questions and (clear up all) ambiguities about the nuclear issue by March 20,” but afterwards Iran expects the IAEA to revert to the standard procedure in its inspections of the country’s nuclear program, Hosseini stated.

Iran is determined to continue its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency and expects others to support this constructive process, he added.

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei made a two-day visit to Tehran and met high-ranking Iranian officials in order to begin the process of resolving all the outstanding issues about the country’s nuclear program.

“Our cooperation with the IAEA is based on the NPT (nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty), which is legal and technical,” the foreign ministry spokesman said, adding that Iran’s actions will be based on the agency’s final judgment and Iran will not accept irrational and politicized approaches
