Chandra levy and the latin star, Salina(sp?)that died in the small plane crash to name a couple. I would have to go back and look some of it up.
There were several deaths of beloved icons just before 9-11. I say "just before" but I am thinking the string began with Diana's death and then JFK's death and the days just before 9-11 were peppered with a battery of deaths of figures who represented love, peace, and "American dream" in terms of "America" as defined by the post WW11 era. |

THERE is only one date ringed in red in the white wasteland of my new diary: July 25, 2008. On this Friday morning I shall be absent from work, exchanging office chair for a cinema seat, and waiting, in eager anticipation, for The Dark Knight to descend. For all comic-book fans, the death of Heath Ledger this week brought emotions that oscillated between regret and relief. Let me explain.
As a result of the actor's untimely death from an overdose, whether accidental or deliberate is as yet unknown, the film on which he was currently working, Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, budgeted at $100 million, has been scrapped. Had Ledger's demise taken place eight months earlier, the same fate may have befallen the latest Batman movie, for which we fans have been waiting these past 20 years.
It is ironic that Jack Nicholson should comment on Ledger's death, warning people about his experiences of the sleeping pill, Ambien. Jack took the pill then got up and drove his car, then wondered why he almost went over a cliff. As he said: "It's something to warn people about." Yes, Jack, don't take sleeping pills and drive cars. On this, most people are pretty clear. Nicholson is, of course, famous for playing the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman (1989) or, if you are a fan of the comic book, ad-libbing dialogue and rendering a classic villain into a bloated baked ham. I can still remember the disappointment of attending a preview screening and being baffled by people's adulation of his buffoonery.
When Christopher Nolan, the director of Batman Begins (2005), decided to revisit the character, Nicholson was furious to be over-looked, saying: "You can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me to do the sequel is that kind of thing," he said. "Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but, to be candid, I'm furious." I cheered with delight.
The role went instead to Ledger who spent a month alone in a hotel room in London figuring out how to create, as he described, a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy". Using Alan Moore's The Killing Joke and Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum, two revolutionary interpretations of the character, as a guide and keeping a diary in which he wrote the Joker's thoughts and feelings, he went on to create a performance that should send Nicholson spinning to the bottom of the pack.
Like other fans, I couldn't resist the promise of a seven-minute preview for the new movie that accompanied I Am Legend at Glasgow's Imax screen and Ledger is truly terrifying. The
question now is by how much will the movie experience change when viewed through the prism of his death?
Certainly The Dark Knight will be darker still, but will his performance be hailed as a masterpiece, artificially elevated to compensate for those other roles he will never take, or will it be interpreted for signs of an encroaching madness? Ledger was known to suffer depression and anxiety and who knows if achieving the performance meant opening a trapdoor he was then unable to close. Peter Jackson, the director, is fond of saying: "Pain is temporary – film is forever." While Ledger's performance will be forever, I'm sure he would have preferred Woody Allen's approach: "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it through not dying." Sadly it's too late for Ledger, but, when I do take my cinema seat on Friday, 25 July, it will be with a heavier heart.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A car traveling at a high rate of speed on an airstrip adjacent to a home owned by John Travolta crashed early Saturday morning, killing the five people inside.
The accident occurred around 4am in the gated Graystone Community, which is located inside the Jumbolair Aviation Estates north of Ocala.
According to a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2008 gray BMW was traveling northbound on the airstrip when the car hit an embankment, flew off the end of the runway and crashed into trees about 200 feet from the end of the airstrip.
The car split in two, then disintegrated, ejecting three of the people.
Positive identification of the victims had not been made by mid Saturday morning, but all five victims were believed to have been in their teens.
Travolta uses the airstrip for his collection of planes, and is even able to taxi up to the back of the home he owns there.
There was no known connection between the actor and the victims.
An investigation was underway Saturday to determine what the car was doing on the strip and what led to the fatal crash.

Christian Brando, the eldest son of the late legendary actor Marlon Brando, died this morning at 1:47 a.m. at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, the New York Post is reporting exclusively on Page Six. The story is developing, but the report from the newspaper on its gossip page website has reported on Saturday afternoon that he passed overnight.
The 49-year-old son of legendary actor Marlon Brando was admitted into Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center on January 11, On Monday, Christian's attorney Benjamin Brin announced that the actor was hospitalized with pneumonia.

"The prognosis is for a complete recovery," Brin said, "He's going to be OK." But another friend that asked not to be identified at the time claimed that he was in grave condition. "He's in the hospital, and he's not doing very well. He has pneumonia with complications," a friend, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters.
Christian Brando was born May 11, 1958 as the result of an affair between his father and actress Anna Kashfi. Christian pled guilty to manslaughter in 1990 for killing his sister's boyfriend Dag Drollet. He was only 49 years old.

There is definitely a conspiracy involving Heath Ledger's strange death. I'll get to that in a moment. First, The Joker is not his last role, as other people are claiming. No need to boycott "The Dark Knight" due to that. "Batman Begins" was brilliant, and even incorporated some Illuminati/NWO elements that were working against Batman, and the upcoming sequel has the potential to be even better. Although Heath hadn't been casted as The Joker at that point yet, The Joker makes a cameo at the end of the first film by leaving his calling card for Batman, setting up the sequel.
What's even more strange about Ledger's death is, aside from him recently completing the psychopathic Joker role, is that he was in the middle of filming "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", where he plays "a mysterious outsider", who travels into hell to rescue a young girl. He died HALFWAY through making it, and the makers of the film are unsure what to do now as they have already spent millions and filmed half the movie. Significantly, the movie is being directed by Terry Gilliam, an acclaimed artistic/fantasy director, who has a history of being at odds with studio heads, struggles to be fiercely independent, and is often blacklisted by major studios. He was also member of Monty Python (the only American born member of the group). Most notably, he made the 1985 dystopic surrealist film "Brazil", which made a mockery of the NWO police state and false-flag terrorism, and is a more timely film today than it was 20 years ago. Could that film have had something to do with Gilliam's troubles?
Is all of that connected to Ledger's death? Was he killed due to some sacrifice leading to an upcoming event, as other people have mentioned, or was he killed in connection to his bizarre upcoming role as an adventurer travelling into hell?
