NWCN (channel 2) here in Washington has been running a clip of some idiot with a fancy air-quality monitor testing a car for second hand smoke. They are out on the Capitol steps while the legislature is debating this law that would make it illegal to smoke in cars with children present.

They run this clip it seems like every 10 minutes all day long. Pisses me off. It is none of their business to begin with and certainly nothing that needs a law made for it.

Anyway, they show the window rolled down and the volunteer smoker lighting up. Then, they flash to the test (window UP!) Of course it pegs their meters, although they don't explain with what. Then they finish with the clip window down again, quickly, as to suggest the results are for an open car.

Nuts. If they really wanted a measurement, the car would have had the window at least halfway down, with the car moving. Just like real life, with plenty of ventilation. And likely very little increase on the meter past the background air pollution.

Its a scam, through and through. I never grasped how many stupid people exist until this anti-smoking thing came around. If harm exists in smoking around children, my entire generation would be sick or dead right now. Thats how I was raised, and I would not have dared say anything to the parents about it.

Now I'll bet the kids will rat the parents out on the new law- bet CPS will get involved and then you're fucked. Think about what these assholes are doing here.

I thought they wanted us all dead anyway? Maybe it really is good for you in someway? Not good, I'm sure, but maybe slows the absorption of something else?
