The ice about North Pole disappears faster, than even the most sceptical forecasts have anticipated.

During the last year about one quarter of the ice mass in the area has disappeared, senior researcher Rasmus Tonboe estimates at Danmark Meteorologiske Institut, DMI.

"We have just analysed new satellite pictures of the ice, which shows that there is about 25 pct. less ice, than it was a year ago.

It's completely wild", Rasmus Tonboe ascertains.

The temperature has risen

He explains the dramatic de-melting with two conditions:

"Firstly the temperature has in the area risen, secondly there has been changed current conditions, which have led large quantities of ice away from the arctic regions.

There is no doubt that the ice melts, but nobody has dared anticipate that it'd happen so quickly, as that we now see", it sounds from Rasmus Tonboe.

Great consequences

So far the most dramatic predictions have talked about that North Pole may be completely ice-free in summer once between 2040 and 2060.

If the present de-melting doesn't appear to be an accidental variation of the climate, but is due to the global heating, it can even go faster.

"Then it want to not go 40 years, before the arctic regions are ice-free.

Then it wants to not stop", professor Eigil Kaas from the University of Copenhagen thinks.

Dramatic consequences

Professor Ola Johannessen from Nansen Instituttet in Bergen thinks that it'll get dramatic consequences for the climate on the whole globe, if the arctic ocean stays ice-free.

"That will get great consequences for the weather in Greenland and on the rest of the globe.

That will change the entire global climate, if we get a news, ice-free ocean", thinks Ola Johannessen, who is one of the researchers who have followed the developments in the arctic ice most closely.

I have heard the above nonsense over and over again, media simply exagerates backed up by the project members just to get more financing, it is all about money, enough said.

If any of you clowns have a contrary viewpoint with evidence then post it instead of just mocking everyone who tries to make a serious post about something. OK, the guy's English aint that good (by Yiminy) but at least he's got something to say.
Just do better if you can.

The BS flag applies if you're posting this to insinuate that "global warming" (if it even exists) is MAN-MADE.... and we have to change our light bulbs and request paper instead of plastic at the supermarket as if that's going to make a difference. Oh, and pay a "global tax" too. And reduce our "carbon footprint" and all that other bullshit.

If the poles are melting, perhaps the planet's orbit is erratic. Maybe the sun is getting hotter.

its weird that nobody thinks, how last iceage started or end, we was not there to make pollution, but still there was hotter than today and colder than today in present times. so ofcorse its the sun there do this, but stil sad to see a bs flag.

not from me dane

But Im from the 'there's nothing we as man can do about it' camp. I think it's cyclical, and I think that there could well be a pole shift, and another ice age, either mini one or big one.

But there are a million theories out there, I kind of like the one where the oceans are heating up because of underground volcanoes erupting. But who knows?

there is nothing we can do about this, thats for sure, and how and when or why its happen, i don't know either, but, i do know what makes the heat around here, and thats the sun, and beside that, its not only the earth there get hotter, mars is too.

[link to madmouser.wordpress.com]

[link to grammyjan.vox.com]

so, if mars is get hotter, and we not are there, then something other there controll the heat in our universe must do it, and there is only the sun, so its poss. when earth get hotter, we see more earthquakes, vulcan's, storms, and so on. but again ,its weird that nobody thinks of this.....this is true doom and science, but stil not even a pin.

I second the person who said it is all to do with money.

No way 25% of North Pole has melted, its the same as ever, you want proof, ask all the scientists that have gone there, they all say: should anything begin to happen it shall be in 2050s at the earliest, however higher chances are that it will happen in the 2080s, even then it will not be a problem, real problems will not start before 2200s.

In 2100s the sea level shall increase about 1-2 feet compare to today.

In 2200s the sea level shall increase about 4 feet compare to today.

So it appears that Arctic ice isn't vanishing after all...

'If the northern hemisphere's chilliest winter in a long time was bad news for the propagandists of global warming, they also had to face serious questions about some of the most iconic images used to support the claims that the world is hotting up towards disaster.'
