We'll see what happens. Many can play armchair scientist about the possiblities.
I don't recall woodstock having a permit.
I realize DC isn't exactly woodstock, but we have the freedom of assembly. No one owns the public spaces. The government has no right to deny people the freedom of assembly.
Or perhaps what we need is another woodstock. There are many followers that have tons of land available.
As long as the government and media don't spin this into a radical protest, we'll be ok. AND, we ALL have to watch out for the hidden police or those people that mask themselves and throw items. It has been show again and again there are evil police that mask themselves and stand on the protestors side to get the police to attack the protestors.
However with that said, it will have to come to that one day. No one in the government seems to care. Peace doesn't work.

anyone planning on going anywhere where there is a gathering of people must remember a few things:
not all will be planning non-violence so be prepared for the glass breakers/rock throwers/bottle throwers/etc. if you are close to one engaging in such matters be sure to sit down and point to the one causing the problems (the first are usually those paid to cause problems)
be sure to have plenty of your own water with you. you may get sick drinking water your body isn't accustomed to.
bring a camera and take plenty of pictures and remember that people watching is great fun.
remember that horses tend to shy when spooked. be considerate of the horse.
have fun and learn.
