The miracle is that it got this far. In the US they (big Pharma) has threatened to simply not supply drugs to the US military if they're going to be held liable in civil cases. Hence they have something like diplomatic immunity here. They are not impossible to sue - but are as difficult as suing the government is or more so!

Good for the French! I hope they send the Galaxo and Pastuer execs to the Bastille for a long long time. Pity that public flogging is not done in France. This is one instance in which I would personally be willing to flog these assholes - in addition to their fines, a good dose of public humiliation would be helpful, in my opinion.

The promotion of a Hep B vaccine for newborns is INSANITY in the first place. The child would have to fall out of it's mother into a pile of shit and then probably wouldn't be enough of an exposure to infect the child! (Gross I know - but seriously that's what it would take to give an infant Hep B!!)

They don't care who they hurt. Or what the outcome may be. Just pump their drugs out the door at a 50 to 100 thousand percent mark-up (cost of mfg vs retail sale price) and they're happy. But then again, who wouldn't be delighted with margins in that stratospheric range? NO ONE OTHER THAN BIG PHARMA makes that kind of money or mark-up on any given product! NO ONE. Even the telephone company thinks that profits of 70 or 80 percent are adequate. But not big Pharma. One drug launched and successful for a few years can yield HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN PROFITS. These companies are so large and so rich that if they don't like the laws of a particular country in regards to their dealings, they can just simply threaten to move out of that country and no longer be under the jurisdiction of those courts that are being so troublesome to them. This is EXACTLY what Galaxo threatened to do in GB the last time they got in hot water there. The British Government being ball less bastards of course caved in and let them do whatever they wanted rather than risk loosing a tax paying industry of huge size... one that employes SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE in GB alone! Nope, they were not about to stick to their guns and risk loosing the revenue that this one corrupt and evil company generates in the course of a year.

Exactly. I have to agree with Dr. Mercola's assessment of adminstering HepB vaccinations to newborns. The likelihood that a new born would become an intravenous drug user or a promiscuous fornicator, before leaving the hospital, is minimal. That's why we refused the vaccine for our child.

Now, maybe by the time he's two, we might have to think about it. Because, as all good doctors know, the fastest growing population of intravenous drug users and promiscuous fornicators is in the 1yr old to 3yr old age range. (sarcasm)

Ever heard of BARDA? I have their information listed below. Natural Solutions Health Foundation says that new legislation is being passed that enables BARDA to mandate FORCED IMMUNIZATION of every man, woman and child with NO EXEMPTIONS. My kid got the shot at birth. She is 2 now, almost 3. How much longer until she turns into an invalid and acquires some exotic malady? Or, have we breached that window of opportunity and are now about 30 clicks downrange from that now? I got the shot too, as an adult. I'm not taking up for these people, but I'm just saying, we seem no worse for the wear...unless there are side effects that are doomed to occur to people no matter what years and years and years later.

Wyeth Wins Thimerosal Suit In Maryland
Judge Slashes Damages In Hormone Therapy Trial

After a legal bout related to its hormone replacement therapy drugs, Wyeth (WYE), which was close to getting caught in legal cross hairs again this time over its thimerosal preservative, can now heave a sigh of relief.

The ruling has gone in favor of Wyeth with the Maryland Court rejecting the link between Thimerosal and Autism.

On Tuesday, Judge Stuart Berger granted Wyeth's motion for summary judgment in the case of Blackwell, et al. v. Sigma Aldrich, Inc., et al case, in which the plaintiffs claimed that thimerosal caused autism.

Wyeth, along with Merck & Co. and Aventis Pasteur, Inc. were sued in 2004 by plaintiffs who alleged that the vaccine component thimerosal caused injuries to their children. More than 4,000 families had filed such lawsuits against the vaccine makers.

Thimerosal, an organic mercury compound was used widely in the 1990s as a preservative in vaccines, especially in multidose packages. Its use began to decline in 1999, following the FDA warning that infants who received vaccines containing thimerosal risked exposure to mercury that exceeded federal guidelines.

Some of the signs of mercury poisoning include memory lapses, hair loss, fatigue, sleeplessness, tremors, headaches, muscle and joint pain, trouble thinking, gastrointestinal disturbances and an inability to do complex tasks.

In December of 2007, Judge Stuart Berger of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City in Baltimore, Maryland, ruled that:

"thimerosal in vaccines does not cause or contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism.. It is generally accepted in the relevant scientific community that autism is genetic in origin except in rare instances of prenatal exposures to certain substances at defined periods during pregnancy.."

The judge also refused to hear the witness citing that the plaintiffs' expert witnesses were not qualified "by knowledge, skill, experience, training or education".

Lady luck seemed to have favored Wyeth this past week. The same day, Wyeth scored a win in the Thimerosal suit, Washoe County District Judge Robert Perry ordered the damages awarded to three Nevada women who claimed that Wyeth's hormone replacement therapy drugs or HRT caused their breast cancer, to be reduced to about $58 million from $134 million.

In his judgment, Perry wrote:

"There was substantial evidence from which the jury could conclude that Wyeth knew that its product could cause breast cancer, that it intentionally failed to conduct adequate tests, that it financed and manipulated scientific studies and sponsored articles in professional and scientific journals that deliberately minimized the risk of cancer while over-promoting certain benefits and citing others which it knew to be unsubstantiated."

Wyeth's hormone replacement therapy drugs, Premarin and Prempro touted as "magic bullets" are indicated for the relief of hot flashes and night sweats, associated with menopause. Wyeth came under fire after the U.S. government's Women's Health Initiative study found that healthy postmenopausal women enrolled in trial who were treated with the hormone replacement therapy drugs, Premarin and Prempro had increased risk of invasive breast cancer, stroke and blood clots.

The trial, which was to continue until 2005, came to an abrupt halt in early June 2002. However, the drugs continue to be in the market.

Wyeth won the first hormone therapy trial in September 2006 in federal court in Little Rock, Arkansas. There are over 5,000 suits related to the drugs Premarin and Prempro.

Premarin has been in use since 1942 while Prempro was approved by the FDA in 1994. In late 2002, Wyeth added a boldface warning on Prempro and on Premarin. Since 2003, the drugs' label has sported the FDA's strictest black box warning.


Premarin and Prempro had combined sales of $2 billion in 2001. Following the study results, the sales of Premarin and Prempro took a beating, dropping to $1.3 billion in 2003 and $880 million in 2004. The drugs generated $910 million in 2005. However, in 2006, Wyeth's hormone-replacement drugs generated sales of $1.05 billion, an increase of 16% over 2005. In 2007, the drugs' sales were $1.05 billion, unchanged from 2006.

Yup. I coordinated clinical trials for physicians longer than 13 years. Easy to get approval on just about anything. FDA only pores case books, not patient charts. Case books are the records Pharm Companies keep on the subject. They only come and look at patient charts when subjects start dropping like flies.

Yup, in my native language, BARDA translates for "the hatchet/axe"... pretty inspired I guess...

Now we have a vaccine for babies who poop.

FDA Panel Supports Rotarix Vaccine Against Infant Diarrhea

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - A group of vaccine experts with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggest using Rotarix, a GlaxoSmithKline PLC vaccine to stop a rotavirus, a common gastrointestinal disease that causes diarrhea in infants.

The U.S. panel voted 11 to 1 that the vaccine is safe for use in infants. The FDA was not obliged to follow the opinion of its panel though it usually does, making Rotarix near to final U.S. approval.

The result of clinical studies of Glaxo's vaccine on 63,000 patients suggests that some of the babies who received two injections had a lower rate of intestinal problems compared to those who received placebo injections.

Rotavirus is the leading cause of diarrhea in infants and young children. By the age of five, nearly every child has been infected by this virus at least once. It is usually transmitted through fecal-oral route. This virus leads to diarrhea which sometimes causes dehydration, which in severe cases can be fatal.

The decision to approve Rotarix vaccine for infants as young as 6 weeks of age, will be made by the US FDA on April 3, 2008.

I had to turn my back on a vaccination pharmaceutical representative the other day because she was too stupid to understand that a study doesn't prove shit. She kept blabbering her uneducated mouth about how some study, funded by the CDC showed NO LINK between autism and mercury in vaccines. She smirked and rolled her eyes when I tried to enlighten her ignorant brain that studies are nothing more than trials that attempt to support or reject HYPOTHESES. They don't prove anything. Multiple, reproducible trials that all show the same result can lend support to proposed hypotheses. She was so incredibly stupid it boggled my mind, and there she was, trying to persuade me to start giving vaccinations in my office again, after I had long ago stopped, and will never again give them in my office. She also didn't seem to understand that it was MY office, and I was biting my tongue to keep from telling her to GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY SIGHT.
