Anonymous Coward User ID: 333742 United States 02/23/2008 09:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | vista works fine here.. some people just like to be melodramatic all the time... or they use it on outdated hardware and wonder why it's slow. If you have a single core processor or a PC built before the release of vista, you shouldn't be using vista. If you built your PC after vista or use a dual core processor, then vista might be right for you. You should be using vista on that old 2 GHZ pentium 4 from 2003. |

I remember a few years ago I called them and thought I was on a toll-free support line and to my horror when my phone bill arrived found out those cheap ass bastards didn't have a free support line. Cost me a chunk for those calls as I was talking to them all day. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 379507 United States 02/23/2008 09:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What exactly is Windows XP6 (besides more clueless bullshit)? Latest version I know of is XP Service Pack 2 - soon to be 3 because Microsoft knows that enterprise shops are NOT rolling to Vista. By the way, Vista Service Pack 1 was pulled because it completely fucked up people's PCs! Sent them into an endless reboot cycle. You like Vista, I don't mind. I personally won't touch it even with your computer |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 376990 United States 02/23/2008 09:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Vista sucks. When it comes time to upgrade my OS, I'm switching to Ubuntu or some other Linus OS, and maybe in time, Windows 7. Vista is slow. Vista can't run very many programs. Hell, my friend has vista, and whenever he tries to watch a Stage6 video (hi-def youtube, essentially), his OS switches themes. Programs I use just fine on XP, common programs that a lot of people use (like Team Fortress 2 and Final Fantasy XI) randomly lock up his computer. It's not a performance issue, as his specs can run games like Oblivion (very intensive graphically) at full settings, but games like Final Fantasy XI, an older game with old graphics, cannot run so smoothly. Nothing but problems with Vista. Not to mention how Vista essentially holds the user's hand :/ |

Mayor of Simpleton User ID: 379211 United States 02/23/2008 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oh yeah, install Vista SP1. It is orders of magnitude better. I have a Dell Latitude D420 w 2GB ram and a solid state hard drive that was mostly unusable until I installed SP1. Now it is quite usable. (I had even downgraded it to XP for a while.) MoS P.S. If you get the MAC, get the 30" display, it rocks. Coupled with my 24" display, I have plenty of screen real estate. Never argue with an idiot. Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 91332 United States 02/23/2008 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually I have a new Gigabyte MP6 with an AMD 4600 X2 processor, with new WD Sata drives, 2 gigs ram and Vista still sucks. Some people that believe in it are the lucky few that got it to work. Windows XP has been really good, PCLinuxOS is the bomb, but it can't run all of my programs I paid lots of money for. Once Linux and wine come of age, I will most definitely dump Microsoft. I'm tired of the shams. Microsoft is so worried about not making their Billions that they have to trash Vista. And Windows 7 will be the same, because Micro$oft will still be worried about making billions of dollars on mediocre software. Their customer support stinks, and they are so big, they don't give a dam about their customers. |
