The pictures in the linked video are misrepresented!!!!
The big concrete building has BEEN ON THIS PROPERTY since the Air Force owned the base. The base WAS SOLD to the Marines about 10 years ago. The property in question has ALWAYS been KCMO property....no dirty deal here! KCMO had full jurisdiction in this property. Belton and Grandview had little to no say so in this whole proposition.
If you listen to this guys video there is a great deal of "in my opinion" and "I speculate". It's fear mongering and paranoia at its finest.
Yes, Mazda has an auto transport business on what used to be the tarmac. No it is not a big secret. Yes there is a great deal of development that will have to happen, as one of the major routs to this area is a very small 2-lane road that will have to be widened.
Anyone want REAL information? |

I'm questioning the suppositions in the video.
The narrator, who I presume was the person who did the video, makes quite a few ASSUMPTIONS about that property. He may have a few valid points, but his "opinions" and "presumptions" are just that.
The film has a "dark" edge that promotes a certain paranoia that misrepresents a very large former air force base and evokes an emotion that is simply not bounded in reality.
I am not saying that there are not plans for this area. I am not saying that this video is right or wrong in its assertions and I suppose he could be 100% correct....but he could be 100% incorrect as well.
Some of what he filmed has been in existence for many years. There is an air-port "tower" and communications towers as well, as THIS USED TO BE AN AIR FORCE BASE! These things are not new additions to the land scape. Train tracks have gone through this area for years......etc.
The "spooky" paranoia is just that. From an uneducated viewer, he is presenting this scenario as though all of the buildings that are on the video are brand new. In fact, some of the buildings belong to the Marines. Some of the old Hangars are from where the A-10's used to be "parked", as this USED to be the "top gun" academy for them.
The videographer failed to record the amazing golf course, housing, youth ball parks and recreational areas just outside of the parameter of the fences, that have been there for YEARS. THOUSANDS of folks have been to this base to watch air-shows as recently as 10 years ago. |

The Richards-Gebaur Airport – a former U.S. Air Force base – currently sits on a majority of the site. Construction will also begin this year on the KCSR intermodal facility.

Approximately 70,000 cars a year pass through KCSR’s International Freight Gateway, including operations for Mazda North America. Mayor Cleaver was responsible for getting this program started in this area, and was rewarded with a Congressional seat.
Mayor Kay Barnes kept the ball rolling, and will be rewarded with a seat in Congress this fall.
I'm hoping Funk might be able to slow it down, but I'm not holding my breath.
They are building a Mexican Consulate in the area.

Isn't I-35 the NAFTA/NASCO Super Highway route?....didn't Mexico just recently get approval to buy property in Kansas City, and make it their own..?? right smack dab in the middle of OUR country??....NAU..Mexican/Canadian/American....we better find a way to stop this...this is NOT innocent trade...it is deliberate...and meant to be done w/o alerting we citizens en masse as to what tptb are really up too....rr |
