I might even be for global government except for two things.

1. The people of the world should be a party to the decision.

2. If this government turned tyrannical...(and all governments do)...then there would be no force outside of itself to turn it back.

Cronkite ignores the evil that currently pervades humanity; the massive disproportion in the distribution of wealth. Have a reasonably equitable distribution of wealth and an open, honest government whose meetings and legislation are VERFIABLE, not controlled by special business interests, and most ofg the crime would disappear.

Next, listen closely to what you hear. Kronkite was making fun of Pat Robertson with the satan remark. Religious warriors like Robertson see satan behind every bush. It's the "if you're not with us, you're against us" mentality. Religion must be kept out of world politics and remain a personal choice. That's why our wise founding fathers stipulated it in our Constitution. Religion as politics divides people and nations. My spiritual beliefs and your spiritual beliefs are no one else's business.

Lastly, I believe what Kronkite was alluding to for world government was that every country must become more democratic before the war mentality can subside. Those are the countries that must give up some of their sovereignty. He said nothing about the U.S. having to give up any sovereignty. Unfortunately, humans have not evolved enough beyond greed and hatred for peace to ever reign supreme.

Do you mean the same path the 13 colonies embarked upon? Then became 13 Soverign Republic, which then joined hands under a Confederation, under the Articles of Confederation in which each State had its full soverign rights?

This lasted less than a decade.

It was then overthrown and replaced by a new "Constitutional Republic" in which the member formerly Soverign States gave up their Soverignty in exchange for Security of being united for their own common defense. That then after the US Civil War had overthrown it was changed into a Nation of Puppet States with very first States rights protected by the Central National Government and more and more that protection dwindled to where it is today.

And now they are thinging of side stepping the people and merging Canada, the USA, and Mexico into one by the same exact process that was used to created the current USA, starting with a Confederation of Soverign Nations, (Canada, the USA, and Mexico), later to become a single Constitutional Republic, which by the same process will be merged with the European Union. The EU is being created in the same fashion and is almost to the point of the stage of becoming a single "Constitutional Republic".

This method repeats untion United North America, United Europe, United Asia, United Africa, United South America and Australia all become joined in a Confederation and eventually combine into a single one world government as a single "Constitutional Republic" that is then Planet Wide.

That Republic is then subverted until it becomes a parlimentary monarchy, which is then subverted until it becomes an absolute monarchy, producing a New Order of the Ages and a One World Government. With its King/Queen being the King of the World. The resulting One World Society will be a fully Feudal System, like that of the last European "Dark" Ages.

The Aristocracy will then fully implement with the King's permission the fullest of the Hindu Caste system through the science of Eugenics and Genetic Modification and Genetic Engineering.

It will look like it is the best thing that has ever happened to the human race until it starts to disintegrate from the inside due to the basic human corruption. It will then go into the self-destruct mode.
