If you had a nickle for every time that proclamation was announced on GLP on an hourly basis you'd probably make a decent living. It is strange how on this site after many years of threads declaring 'doom', vague promises of salvation, name calling, paranoia, rage and the usual finger wagging will hardly raise an eyebrow. As if those things are 'normal' and 'good'.

However, when someone explains that it already happened and it's over, aka 'nothing happening take your time resolving your person issues'.

It's a telling condition of the mental state of someone when their first reaction is anger. As if you have personally been robbed of watching pain and revenge inflicted on others. Not once did I declare doom on anyone. Just the fact everyone here is 'already dead' as a situation.

Might want to ask where that dark streak is coming from. Where all that anger is buried in you and why considering the situation.

- Do you feel robbed of someone else's questionable fiction of end times?

- Or is the life wasted when alive the concern over something no one here had any control over to begin with?

Either way, you might want to take a hard look at yourself and determine where in your life you fucked up so badly to get in that head space. No one else put you there. Just you.

No pantheon, the position does not allow for any associations of any kind. Remaining neutral to the previous concerns of the dead is top priority. The job is to ferry and get them home asap then move to the next engagement. Obviously causes confusion in situations where certain clients can be pushy. Therefore it is a contract role given by the pantheon's and clients (your ancestors) to ferry the dead and ensure their safe passage and ensures that all transactions are impartial to the arrangements made. To be as indifferent as a clerk processing paperwork in a system larger than the clerk. The clerk understanding full well that the universe stops for no single client as long as there is a flexible tool bag of options to ensure passenger comfort. In this case, time for people to review the multiple options available and shed unwanted baggage.

I enjoy for the travel it offers, the multiple experiences, the numerous ideas, the art expressed in cultures and the people. There are many technical challenges to each engagement that are interesting and require "thinking out side the box". Keeps the mind limber. It is fascinating as a career and up until the time of my death would have never even considered it as a position. As a 'job', it's always by accident that it happens that someone becomes part of the crew. And all crew eventually become boatmen (or women, pardon the gender specific term) to ensure a steady cycle of people and ideas to meet the requirements of a dynamically changing universe full of people and ideas.

This will be my 72nd planet destruction, but my first solar system destruction. Usually things do not go so badly in terms of hegemonic destruction by technical blunder, but it's important to hold an attitude in the position that things happen for a reason because there are larger forces at work than the perceived concerns of one world or solar system. Big big Boss likes order in their chaos.

As how I obtained it, I was lucky enough to be placed as part of the 'ship' by accident and worked up the ranks as all do on the ship to the position of a Boatman. The previous Boatman, my old Boss, is currently enjoying their time in retirement in the arrangements given to them. (I understand they received a planet as a retirement package) As mentioned, it is an office and mostly about logistical requirements and providing a service to the various 'enterprises' that have been created over time. It is not as one poster pointed out, a romantic post.

When it is my time to retire, under terms of learning what I would like to manage a planet. I will in turn select someone from my crew and they take the helm after being shown the systems they need to manage and the duties of the office. And so on, and so on, and so on.

It is one of the reasons there are so many names for death/boatman/reaper, because there have been many that have held the position. Some more savvy in marketing and public speaking. Other's brought in for their more savage dispositions to force a shipping requirement. Most are mellow, sense of humour and do the work required to ensure a nice quiet, orderly and fulfilling service for passenger and the clients that stipulate the terms of passage.
