One full case of shortening,which comes to about thirty five pounds, costs about fifty bucks...that's a lot for those of you that don't know much about restaurant ordering... Oh, and they don't cook them to order anymore...they make a large batch and keep them up for a long time... It's more about quality control than anything else, to be honest.. |

I remember my mum and grandparents all cooking in lard (pig fat) and nothing compared to it since. I really dont get all the crap about oils these days. All my grandparents lived to very old age..as many did. UK people....my Dad even used to eat lots of pork dripping sandwiches and EVERYTHING cooked in lots of beef or pork fat. My dad is 70 and going strong. Its a real pity that idiots have to come up with something to destroy our fun and good tastes...just to avoid death that is going to come whatever we do. Bah humbug! |
