Re: Did Admiral Byrd stumble across a NAZI UFO base in the Antartica expedition
There is quite a story involving the Nazi base in Antarctica:

From the Omega Files

...Byrd, who had flown across the south pole as the first human in 1929, was already at this time a living legend, a national hero to the Americans and most of the polar researchers. In 1938 he still was civilian. This invitation to the Germans could have been a typical irony of history, for nearly ten years later exactly this Richard E. Byrd -- then in the rank as US NAVY admiral -- got the instruction to destroy the secret German Antarctic base 211. To do this, he was given the command of the biggest military force on the Antarctic ice ever seen, 13 ships and nearly 4000 men staff. That mysterious operation which is said to have ended in a catastrophical failure. ...........

...In 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd led 4,000 military troops from the U.S., Britain and Australia in an invasion of Antarctica [Operation Highjump and follow-up], but encountered heavy resistance from Nazi "flying saucers" and had to call off the invasion. A Rear-Admiral who was in that invasion has retired in Texas, and said he was shocked when he read the "Fire From The Sky" material. He knew there were a lot of aircraft and rocket shoot-downs but did not realize the situation was so bad. .............

The invasion of ANTARCTICA consisted of three battle groups from Norfolk, VA, on Dec. 2, 1946. They were led by Byrd's command ship, the ice-breaker "Northwind," and consisted of the catapult ship "Pine Island," the destroyer "Brownsen," the aircraft-carrier "Phillipines Sea," the U.S. submarine "Sennet," two support vessels "Yankee" and "Merrick," and two tankers "Canisted" and "Capacan," the destroyer "Henderson" and a floatplane ship "Currituck." A British-Norwegian force and a Russian force, and I believe some Australian and Canadian forces were also involved.

On March 5, 1947 the "El Mercurio" newspaper of Santiago, Chile, had a headline article "On Board the Mount Olympus on the High Seas" which quoted Byrd in an interview with Lee van Atta: "Adm. Byrd declared today that it was imperative for the United States to initiate immediate defense measures against hostile regions. The admiral further stated that he didn't want to frighten anyone unduly but that it was a bitter reality that in case of a new war the continental United States would be attacked by flying objects which could fly from pole to pole at incredible speeds. ..............

I have always loved the story about Admiral Byrd, who can say if there is any truth to it or not, but man what a read ......

During Operation Deep Freeze

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Ivan Sanderson in "Invisible Residents" writes that....
Dr. Rubens J. Villela and 2 other witnesses observed a rocket like object burst through 37 foot thick ice and ascend rapidly. Dr. Villela refutes this but does admit to a UFO sighted by him in Antarctica.
Read this please.

Re: Did Admiral Byrd stumble across a NAZI UFO base in the Antartica expedition
I would like to make 1 comment. Has anybody discovered the original diary? If not, when was the 1st mention of it in the public domain? If the story is true, then this would be the "smoking gun" of the U. F. O. alleged cover-up.How would you go about seeking the whereabouts of the original? If found, how would you prove its authenticity? Any suggestions/offers?

Re: Did Admiral Byrd stumble across a NAZI UFO base in the Antartica expedition
Further to my comment on 15/1/11, I have since discovered that the diary is definitely a forgery. It was written, and admitted to have been written, by a Nazi sympathizer, after the end of the war, and the dialogue passages in it (the alleged conversations between Admiral Byrd and the "master" figure) have been lifted wholesale from the script of a 1930's film relating a similar encounter with a race of people who had been cut off from the rest of the world for many centuries.
What a shame! It was a good story, but the fact of the forgery of the diary still does not detract from the fact that a very large task-force was sent to the area, returned early, and that the official report of what happened has never been made public, notwithstanding the documentary made about the expedition.yeahsure

he didn't "stumble" across it, that's what he was sent there to find.

In reply to "Anonymous 1", you claim to have found evidence that it is "definitely a forgery", yet, as with most 21st century minds, never cited your source. I'm not claiming to buy in hook line and sinker but I've traversed many pages on the internet and never even ran into an inkling that some Nazi came up with this. And if so, for what purpose did he link it to belonging to Admiral Byrd? As for the NAZI ufo base... idk. I have a hard enough time coming up with real, extraterrestrial space-craft evidence, let alone that Nazi's of all people not only encountered, but now they BUILT them? Lol.. idk.

with you and would love some more evidence on this one way or another. anyone got anything to share please do. My understanding is all we know for sure is that Byrd's ships were attacked and he said it was by flying objects in the air as reported by the newspaper in Chili. But if anyone knows more please post

Byrd kept it till death and then decided to share... It sounds like the story with Neil Armstrong and freemasonry.
