No need for any laser. Just put an open wire on ice and heat it up by running current through it.
So we now have an open wire 45 miles long using resistance heating to melt sixty feet of ice.
Tell me, as the wire sinks down into the ice shelf, what's going to keep the water above it from freezing back into ice again?
And where are the huge generators at each end of the wire that are generating those megawatts of electricity?
