After decades of repression, Tibetans are crying out to the world for change. China's leaders are right now making a crucial choice between escalating repression or dialogue that could determine the future of Tibet, and China.
We can affect this historic choice -- China does care about its international reputation. But it will take an avalanche of global people power to get the government's attention. The Dalai Lama, has called for restraint and dialogue: he needs the world's people to support him. Sign the petition below--it will be delivered Monday, March 31st to Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide!

China Calls for Dialogue on Human Rights with Equality, Mutual Respect
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at yesterday's regular press conference that both China and the US should conduct dialogues on human rights issue based on equality and mutual respect.
Qin said this in reply to a reporter's question concerning President Hu Jintao's visit to the US.
He said Hu will explain China's position and opinions on human rights issue if the topic is brought up during his US visit.
"We oppose confrontation and interference in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights," Qin said.
He said China and the US share common ground on the human rights issue, which focuses on the protection and promotion of human rights, noting that China is willing to have dialogue with other countries, including the US.

Re: Support the Dalai Lama 4 days left sighn the petition
I used to go to a Tibetan monastery twice a month and study from one of the Dalai Lama's own emissaries.
I have a lot of respect for them...
...but the Dalai Lama can go fuck himself (he has been taught the tantric technique for sure).
He is reaping the karma of several incarnations in which he brought in Mongolian, Chinese, and Manchurian mercenaries to back his power grab against the Panchen or "Tashi" Lama.
Britain invaded in 1906. Then they watched the Russian revolution burning down the moansteries in the Lake Baikal region. They watched World War I & II unfold and did nothing to modernize their armed forces because it would diminish the power of their feudal nobility.
The Panchen Lama stayed in Tibet when the People's Liberation Army came and "Liberated People".
Wait till the Chinese bring out the latest incarnation of the Panchen. Then we will see who the true spiritual leader of Tibet is. owner of an extensive collection of curios from the exotic orient
I've never been too surte how I feel about the Dalai Lama. He says all the right things but I've never felt positive about him and don't know why.
What I do know is that China (as well as America) is violating civil rights and decencies hourly.
I will not attent or support the games in China in anyway. I know several people now who have cancelled plans to go to China which was a major statement for them and on I hadn't expected.
I no longer go to the US.
So, I guess I support the Tibetan people and can do so without supporting the Dalai Lama.
