Also, we saw quite a few rusty beams - and we saw what might have been ongoing fuming...

They are hosing it down as they dump it -- and its still fuming. The tailgate of the truckbed is swung open and is fuming with no water on it. The water appears to cut down on the fuming. If it were steam, we would see the opposite of this.
Also, if it were hot, why didn't they hose it down and cool it off *BEFORE* they operated the hydraulics? ;-)

The front tires of the truck appear dry as well as the cab. The upper-front of the truck bed appears dry. The lower-right end of the truck bed appears wet. The hose-down appears to be just in one place (note water path in front of building on the right, and note the water pattern on the pavement)

We were running, and I looked back and it seems like the sides of the street were getting narrower. The sound got louder and the wave. I remember we separated one time and Ramos wanted to go down into the train station. I said, "No fucking way. We're out here. Without ventilation, we're definitely dead." I said, "If I'm going to die, I'm going to die with a fighting chance."

Evidence of molecular dissociation (DEW) is shown in the figures below. I understand the FEMA report to say these came from WTC7. I also have a nice FEMA picture showing the half dissolved beam by that hole in liberty street (last figure).

Diane Sawyer: And I've got Don Dayo (?) in here with me, we're dividing up all the duties, here, and he's been down to the scene, and also J.D. Hopfer (?) who says he's just a volunteer who came in here from California and was around the area.
I just wanted to know how much fire is there. You said you were just at Ground Zero. How much fire is left?
J.D. Hopfer (?):
Well at Building Seven there was no fire there whatsoever, but there was one truck putting water on the building. But, it's collapsed completely. And then, the other building, that there were some flames still coming up was in World Trade Center One, not a lot.
Diane Sawyer: You said you saw melted tour busses? Melted cars?
J.D. Hopfer (?): The cars that were right down there, ...it was just unbelievable. They were twisted and melted into nothing. The build... the debris is just unbelievable. And then you can see fire trucks and police vehicles that were down there early, that um, all their windows, their windshields, are completely blown out -- from, ...it must have been from when debris dropped.

A reported 1400 vehicles were damaged on 9/11. [Reference] These vehicles had peculiar patterns of damage and some were as far away as FDR Drive (about 7 blocks from the WTC, along the East River). Vehicles had missing door handles for example, windows blown out, window frames deformed, melted engine blocks, steel-belted tires with only the steel belts left, and vehicle front ends destroyed with little or no effect on the back end of the vehicles. What could have caused such extraordinary damage? Portions of cars burned while paper nearby did not.
Many vehicles had their outer surface peeled away like a sardine can. In some instances, clearly there is more than peeling paint was involved. It appears that the sheet metal delaminated as though something caused the material to melt or disintegrate at a certain depth. In some cases it appears that there was more heat damage inside than outside and vice versa.
In the debate over toasted cars ignited by this article, some have argued that the wrecked vehicles on FDR drive were damaged at the WTC and were loaded up and transported and dumped on FDR drive for storage. First, there is no evidence that this was done. Second, it makes no sense to load up wrecks, transport them, only to dump them in a busy thoroughfare for storage. These wrecks would have had to be picked up yet again and transported again. If vehicles were truly moved from the WTC to FDR Drive, we wonder why WTC steel beams were not stacked up on FDR drive, as well, if it was such a good storage area. Third, governments may be stupid, but we doubt they could be this inefficient. If reported, it would have been a minor scandal. Fourth, we might be wrong about the facts here, but it looks like the motive for this speculation about shifting wrecks around lower Manhattan is to protect the official story or thermite story or other pet theories. We fail to see any other explanation for such a "forced" interpretation for these photographs. Fifth, marks on the roadway suggest that some of these vehicles were pushed to the side of the roadway until they could be removed. For example, see this figure. This is a more natural explanation for why some of the cars appear to have been moved from where they were damaged rather than all the way from the WTC.
Most of the 1400 toasted cars had some, if not all, windows missing. What would cause this? Figure yy, below,(SEE MAIN LINK ABOVE FOR PIXOF THE TOASTIES)) shows a silver convertible with its top apparently intact but missing some of its window glass. If the windows were blown out from pressure inside, we would expect the convertible top to have been torn or blown off. This suggests that the windows were not blown out by internal pressure, but may have been shattered by some other mechanism.

Thanks, OP for posting some intriguing evidence that some strange physics and chemistry occurred at WTC (and is still going on, it seems). And it certainly is NOT due to thermate, which has been irrefutably debunked, as far as I am concerned (the molten metal that poured out of the 81st floor of the South Tower was lead from the lead batteries stored in the computer rooms on that floor used by Fuji Bank, according to what an ex-employee told Christopher Bollyn):

Hosing down or watering dirt while grading, loading it into dump trucks and what not is merely to keep down the dust in 'normal' construction projects. This is for just normal 'virgin' dirt that has not been contaminated by the materials and chemicals that super structures like the WTC were chocked full of when they were brought down.
It is possible that that is what they are doing spraying water to keep down the dust.
'Steam' will rise out of 'warm' water hitting cold earth, will rise in cool air making a 'fog'.
I do not know what the temperatures are like in NYC at the time the vid was made. It is possible that the air was cold, the warm water hitting the soil causing a similar effect as fog - where moisture rises from the ground.
Another reason why spraying would be done, especially in the case of a fully furnished building has been reduced to ruble would be to keep down the dust to keep down potential toxic dust from rising up.
In reconstruction zones where say asbestos was part of a previous building hauling away and spraying down the soil beneath is not uncommon. "fuming" or using chemicals to bond the soil with its potentially toxic load is not out of the ordinary either - depending on the material in the soils.
Owning to when the twin towers were built (1970's) and the potential for asbestos, lead and other 'interesting' chemicals and substances that were part of the structures its a safe bet that due to the way the buildings were brought down (without asbestos and lead removal prior to demolition) it is a safe bet that the area is full of known toxic or potentially hazardous materials.
Most likely the EPA was in and found that the soils beneath the WTC are contaminated by the materials the WTC was built out of. It is not just a simple matter of lead for solder joints and asbestos as fire retardant. Asbestos may have been part of the material off all of that drywall as well. Then there are the petrochemicals of all the plastics in the building - and other stuff.
Of course more silence at this time may be a 'bad' political move - but it may be a worse political move to notify the public that the ground in and around 'The Pit' was contaminated to the point where it has to be removed and detoxified an disposed of and treated like toxic waste due to things like asbestos, lead, aluminum compounds, drywall compositions, all of the water that was sprayed in the hours and days after the collapse to put out fires (leeching God only knows what through the cracked and broken retaining walls).
Besides steel covered with asbestos for fire retardation, and concrete (Pulverized, full of lime and other materials when exposed to the air and water forms acids and other 'interesting' chemicals, things like, drywall, paint, plumbing and all of the lead at solder joints, sheathing for wiring, on top of that were offices with computers (which are full of toxic materials that melt at low temperatures) telephones, furniture and other stuff which not only got crushed up, but were baked for a very long time.
And on top of that one has to think of all the sewage lines (which may not have had sewage in them at the time, but had been used for 30+ years so were lined with waste material).
The Ceiling panels, the lights (fluorescent bulbs have mercury in them - not too much for one tube, how many tubes where in the WTC to light it up?). Even the copper wiring although harmless by itself can combine with other materials under heat to make some dangerous chemicals.
How many cars were parked in the garages? those too contain toxic materials, brake fluid, gasoline, antifreeze, battery acid... Plus the plastics and lead and other materials.
So yeah, sure when we think of the collapse we are often reminded of the steel and concrete, what we fail to recall is all of the potentially hazardous materials that were on the site as well - cooked to produce God only knows what kind of chemical reactions with lots of water added not only being sprayed on to put out fires, but the months of weather and rain that would leech that stuff into the soils.
So another thing to cause 'steam' or vapor may be a reaction between God only knows what chemical compounds that were unleashed in the pit and water.
I have no doubt that Ground Zero was and may still be a toxic hell hole.
There is no need to add a conspiracy twist to this one. All of the stuff needed to make for 'interesting' clean up issues are part and parcel of every office building on earth - our modern electronics alone are deadly and we are facing E-waste as an ecological threat.

Yes normal clean ups dont last six years though, and the normal hazzards that may have been in various building materials used in construction dont pulvarize steal and concrete and human beings into dust .
