What I found interesting growing up in California is the variety of hispanic cultures and versions of the language. Someone from Brazil could be identified by how they speak. It's different then how those in Mexico speak, and those from say El Savador have a different variation as well.

Some would believe the Mexican's version of Spanish is a little more polluted (more of a combination of varieties)then say those in Argentina.

What's even more facinating is how easy it is to understand Italian if you know the more unpolluted version of Spanish.
