I do have on load out for today, and no calls on it and no trucks in the area. By the way, I may be a broker, but I support the shutdown 100%. My customers know about it and are also behind me. Phone is quiet today. My ol' man is a trucker, and after him spending $69,700 in fuel last year for only 10 months, You're Damn right I am in Support of it. Owner ops dont have to shut down to change something.
The fuel and these prices will do that by them selfs.
Once the truckers become broke and lose the truck and or change their jobs. The will be a need for trucks, thats where i come in charging $5 per mile just because i can.

This is not a ONE Day STRIKE. It is the 1st-5th, I am a broker for freight and I know both ends of the trucking industry. They will Strike. I just wish they would all go to DC. According to a post on GetLoaded.com, DC has called for extra State Troopers in the DC area. They want to shutdown the beltway. And I have been inside the truck, and it is unbelievable the stupid ass things 4 WHEELERS do on the Freeways. For those who don't know what a 4 WHEELER IS, it is the people who drive cars. Thank God I wasn't the driver because I would have run over some of them.
You have any freight moving tomorrow? Getting any calls? I know I am. All of my freight is covered for tomorrow. There have been over a dozen strikes in the past 10 years or so. No one ever notices. This one is getting more attention, but there are so many drivers that either won't participate or know nothing of a strike. My trucks will be running tomorrow, and the choice is left up to my drivers. There will always be a truck to run because when the trucks get scarce the rates go up, and money talks. When the rates go up, they compensate by passing it on to everyone in the long run, including the truck drivers. I wish it would make a difference, but it won't.

We were a trucking company first. Maybe you only comprehended the pieces of my post that you wanted. Our drivers know that we don't mind if they strike. I have stated several times that I DO support this strike. Even in my post above. What do you want me to do, force them to strike? That would be ironic! There will be no rate regulations for brokers. Nothing that will matter. I've heard of making a law that requires all fuel given to a broker to be disclosed and to go to the truck. I don't mind. I would welcome it, but you know what would happen... that $1.80/mile that we're getting right now would turn into $1.50/mile plus fuel, equaling out and not changing a thing. Maybe you should try to work on being a little less condescending. |

Go for it. A strike is well over due. What else needs to be done is alll of the trucking companies shut down. Yeah it might hurt them for a short time but the outcome will be well worth it. Go for it. I 100% for the strike.

The rates for truckers did not change since 80's it a'rent gonna change now eaither. I quit trucking after 7 years finaly reolize that what a nonsance job I was doing why? I know what you mean about big companies not caring anything about you. For that matter my taste into 3 big companies in my opinion. JB, Werner, Boyd Bros. All of them are the same. If they can make a penny they are satisfied when it comes to contracts. They dont care about the drivers all they care about that low paying stinking freight. These big companies dont care if your family is sick or anything of that nature. All they care about is that load, and how little they are paying you. Driver its not even worth .50/mile. They will get the beaners to haul it from burrito country for .17/mile throughout the US.  |

at least in northern WV where I am at. We will see what happens later today.
Was any of them hauling any gasoline do you know of Moron. They made it a Federal Law that tanker drivers cannot shut down if they hauling gasoline. That would cause a nationwide grid lock. Then the US Federal Government can claim US Marshal Law. Naturally those guys cannot shut down unless they want to go to prison for a long time. I support those drivers that our actually shutting down to stand up for what they believe in. I was OTR for almost 10 yrs. My family got in bad health, and I had to come off of the road. There is nothing like it being on the road. I tell you something right now you put in the hours that those drivers put each and everyday. Just to make sure you have the finer things in life. Like you got a TV in your home, you have gasoline to get back and forth to work. You have an 4 wheeler to get where you need to go. You have clothes on your back. Hell those clothes did not show up in these stores nationwide overnight if it was not for a trucker that had to bring it there. You not would not be wearing them as we speak. Where do you think the shingles for your roof come from a train. Get real. They were delivered by a truck driver. Those stinking bureacrats in Washington, D.C. Need to wake up and smell the coffee. They take these truckers for granted. Drivers my best advice is no matter how hard it gets shut down until you get your answers. If you dont those stinking bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. we keep on doing what they normally do. If it means you need to shut down for a month or longer. Then it will be worth it in the long run to get the payback you deserve. This hike in fuel prices is . So drivers that our shutting down please do shut down and get the message across to the Federal Government we are putting an end to these bs fuel prices, and low rates on freight. Yes, some of them were tanker trucks but I saw a few covered wagons and some flat beds hauling steel. The steel trucks are local because I am surounded by steel mills up and down the river valley. Don't get me wrong, I am all for this strike. I hope it does happen and I hope it does some good. I feel sorry for owner/ operators. I can see WV route 2 from my place of work. I am going to keep a watch and see how the truck trafic is today. |
