Woman describes ‘escape’ from polygamy

These people are not LDS they are FLDS, think of them as FIRED from the LDS church because of the Polygamy they were (FLDS) practicing which had been banned from the LDS church very long ago.....
While the LDS church doesn't practice polygamy right now they fully expect to in the next life. If the force of law was removed they would revert back to the original teachings of Joseph Smith. Even today in an attempt to control sexuality, young (12+) girls and boys are taken in the bishops offices alone behind closed doors and questioned about any sexual activities. Masterbation, kissing, petting or any other hot button that comes up. 40 years olds talking sex to kids. Very cozy. Nothing changes.
Thats pure BS you are a hater of Mormons who don't marry or have multiple sex partners and dont practice getting children pregnant. Dont spread your dis info. You are wrong on all of your personal opinions. You know not of what you speak..........
It is exactly true, I know it from personal experience. Sounds to me like you are a true believer. Mormons have always lied to defend their church.
Actually it's not "exactly true" it's your supposition and not fact. I grew up in it and have not been active in years. It is not the practice for men to discuss sex with children as you say and allude in veiled innuendo in your threads. Stop mixing multiple religions into one religion. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 364572
Yes they do and you know it. I just left the religion because of their lies and abuse. If you want to be ordained a deacon then you have had the "chastity talk" from the bishop. All this polygamy problem started with Joesph Smith's skirt chasing. While the LDS Church says they quit practicing polygamy in 1890 they actually kept on in secret until the late 1940s and early 1950s. And before you deny that do a little reading. The sick underbelly of Mormonism needs to be exposed for what it is. Pray, pay and obey. |

I agree that religion is deeply based in guilt. Any meetings you have are always about rooting out your secret quilt. You are controlled by would have should have and need to. I am not active in religion because of its very male dominated and male supported domination is always to the demise of the female. |

I met Carolyn Jessop through a mutual friend, a non-LDS woman who was part of the "underground railroad" in 2002-2005, helping the kids (mostly teenage boys who were kicked out as potential rivals).
Wow, that is so interesting. The old men don't want any competition, huh? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 284011
Of course! This has always been the case. How can there be any women or girls left for the younger males when the old fuckers are marrying them up. |

Agreed, but you have to understand one thing: most men in this world, regardless of race or culture, are in sympathy with the enslavement of women and children. At least 80%, if not 90% are what most outwardly decent folk these days would call perverts and abusers, at heart if not in fact. Most of those who do not commit criminal acts are also very content to do nothing whilst other braver types do it for them, so at least they are getting vicarious enjoyment.
The only thing that will remove that kind of ugliness from the planet is a sex-specific virus to knock out most of the males. They really have not changed much in all of human history. At the very least and as a small start toward the attainment of a (finally) enlightened society, all patriarchal religious institutions should be declared illegal and abolished for that is generally where the patriarchal corruption starts. |

I know some wonderful people who are LDS. I know some wonderful people who are Catholics. I know someone wonderful people who happen to be Jewish, Muslim, Presbyterian, etc. Religion's not for me and there are things about it that CAN corrupt. That doesn't make it a bad thing. It's like any group: there are a few rotten eggs, or maybe more than a few and it's a knee-jerk reaction to condemn the entire group based on the bad behavior of a few. I'm sure that there are LDS who practice polygamy (pedophilia) in secret and these people need to be addressed. There are many more who wouldn't dream of polygamy and embrace the other wonderful lessons the faith has to offer. I'm sure you're right, that you've had these experiences you describe and you are right to leave. I have had the same experiences in the Catholic church (youth group priests and brothers hitting on me as a teenager and confusing the hell out of me). But that doesn't mean that others in the faith have not had those experiences, KWIM? |

anon User ID: 280094 4/9/2008 12:13 PM | | Re: Woman describes ‘escape’ from polygamy | Quote | This is my last post on this topic. It is a quote from a site for recovering mormons.
"The first sense of just how awful it all was came years after my mission, when I read "The Giant Joshua," Maurine Whipple's novel about early Mormonism and polygamy in St. George. I first learned about the way arrangements were made, and how they were enforced----"blood atonement."
It made me question. I was not taught this. It sounded awful, but it made sense. How else could the stupid and pathetic practice of polygamy be enforced? It had to involve threats.
I have since read the good books about Mormon polygamy. That includes "Under the Banner of Heaven," 'Tell it All," and "Wife No. 19." It hit me very hard. Polygamy, as practiced by Warren Jeffs, is the same kind of polygamy practiced by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. It did not change at all. The same methods used by the early church are used now. To make it work, you must remove all freedom from the women. They must become property.
Women were, and are, chattel. Girls are married off young, and assigned to the role of slacking the lust of 50 year old lechers who should be arrested and castrated. They are not patriarchs, they are child molesters. They operate under the guise of the 'holy Priesthood," which is just an excuse to pick and choose the nubile girls. Some sacred authority that is.
The whole damned thing is sick. It is beyond pathetic. But it goes on and on and on. Joseph started it, and it never would go away. It took on a life of its own, and became a huge monster that cannot be controlled. One man's desire for sexual experimentation led to hundreds of ruined lives, child molestation, and a sick, sick theology. How utterly nauseating it is.
I cannot stand to hear Mormons talk about it now. "We will practice it in the Celestial Kingdom," or "It will come back when we are worthy,"
Can't these dopes figure it out? It is not holy, pure, or moral. It is just sick. It has, at least done one thing. It has prevented the Mormon church from ever having a shot at being mainstream. They will never be accepted as a normal faith. The baggage of polygamy will hold them down forever." |

This thread is a good example of the problems that organized religions creates. People see religion and circle the wagons, defending criminal activity. They surrender all reason, refuse to see the situation for what it is, and insert their cause into it. |

These polygamists are disgusting. They need to be run out of this country. Let them go somewhere else. God knows there are already enough perverts around. Child abusers like these are the most heinous kind.
I hope EVERY one of their sex ranches are raided.
Once these men ar ein prison, they will get to really feel what it is like to be sexually abused and they most certainly deserve it. No pity from me!
