I quit.
Smoking, actually. I finally figured out that nicotine is a drug that is worse then heroin. And your mind goes through great lengths to keep you smoking. It's so weird.
You know you are destroying your body, you know that it tastes awful and costs a shitload of money, but still you just don't think about that and smoke. And every time you feel a pain in the chest you think: oh god i wish i didn't smoke. And you wait for the day that you wake up as a non-smoker.
Smoking is not an habbit... it's an addiction and a severe one. I'm gonna stop fooling myself, from today on. I can only see a bright future, not being a slave of sigarets.
I'm free! Finally!

I think the best and most effective way to quit smoking is cold-turkey. That's the way I did it over 20 years ago. Don't even miss the garbage.

Exercise, Yeah, i'll try that. Thanks.
I know there is still drugs in my body and i feel a slight, i dunno... hunger. But nothing really. It's the prison of thought that i stepped out of. Nicotine is drugs and works like drugs, i got addicted after one sigaret and smoked 14 years.
It's a death trap...

Re: I quit.
One day whan I was quitting I forgot to put a nicotine patch on.

I started feeling very depressed.

As little while after I put a patch on, I felt much more cheerful.

I believe that nicotine is an anti-depressant. (At least for me.)

That would explain why wellbutrin can help to quit.

Quitting was difficult for me, but I was determined to make my life smoke free. You have to really WANT to quit to be successful. I do admit that I used Commit Lozenges to take the edge off during those times that I wanted to beat the shit out of everyone around me.

It's staying clean that can become a torture.

It's not a habit. It's an addiction. If it was a habit, why smoke stuff that doesn't even taste nice. Why even light that damn thing.
Nicotine grabs you. And you don't notice it.
It's supposed to be cool, it's supposed to give you something. And by the looks of it, it has to be worth all the diseases, bad breath, burn holes in your clothes, social stigma and awful taste... but it gives nothing.

Damn..It has got to be expensive to smoke now too..

Somebody told me the other day that it is like $6.00 for a pack of cigarettes now?..
CRAZY!..

I guess if one drives and smokes these days they are probably broke for sure...

I live in the Netherlands and a pack costs 4 euros, so thats little over 6 dollars yes. Gasoline is a different story... that's $9 a gallon over here.

This is really funny, but I decided to start smoking today. I thought that I needed something to take my mind off of the other areas of my life. What a weird coincidence.

You felt a slight hunger....be careful with that...when you smoke, you only take in 80% of calories you eat...when you quit smoking, you take in the whole 100%...so you will gain weight, even if you do not eat more...a nurse told me that...I quit in Nov 05..and I am now trying to take off the weight I gained...it takes a year for your body to settle down...good luck...rr

well some don't ever have cancer from smoking, say a rare 4% of smokers. My grandma who lived to 93 year's old was a smoker for 63 years..never had a problem except for smelly clothes and yellow teeth. I have smoked since i was 19, im 27 now..only started a pack a day when i was about 22. So heavy smoking for that long. I hate the tired feeling, the stinks, all the shit involved with it..but your right nicotine is worse then heroin probably, it;s just so hard to stop smoking..I have tried a few times..no luck for more then a week at a time.

and yes it's expensive as fuck for cigs. I get a carton about once ever 9 days now. Cost 31$ after tax. This is cheap compared to most states. Like upstate nY, a pack cost over 7.50 a back. California, forget about it..at least 6.50 a back or more. Here in neveda it's still somewhat cheaper, usually 4.12 a pack, usually i can get them at some smoke shops for 3.30$ after tax..when i first started back in 99 it was onlly about 2.75 for a pack after tax..
