Re: The World is only 7000 years old
I do not care whether the sun and universe is aged based on the earth. My argument is based on the speed of light (c). If we can prove that a star is x distance away from us, then the light takes: x/c = time. This gives us the time which has been found to be millions of years. If we can see these stars, then surely millions and billions of years have passed for us to see them? Logically, the earth would be roughly the same age as other planets which have been discovered too?

If that is all you have and you hang all your world views on it, while all else shows a young universe/earth then you are grasping at straws. If everything else agrees with the Bible (and it does) then the stars were stretched out as the Bible says:

He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding. Jer.51:15

This could have happened at creation. Just like we can't see creation we can't see the stars stretch out, neither can you show a big bang. Yet it is possible the Creator stretched them out and with that the light.

All else shows young earth and universe, canceling out your starlight theory. The redshift doppler shows they are all moving away from earth meaning they started here, meaning the light is constant but the stars travel is not.

I dont hang all my hopes on this speed of light theory. I dont agree with you that 'All else shows young earth and universe' because Shevar's posts seem to contradict it significantly.

Yes, you can just say - The creator did it and thats it, he can do anything. (even pass light-speed? or 'strech light' as you call it)

There is no argument for that 'but the creator did it' aproach.

I just have what I see in front of me, and I see a very old place, with geological landscapes which look like they took a long time to become where they are.

I see the stars which are at different ages, some red dwarfs, some supernova, some like our Sun.

I see science finding results which show ages of about 4billion years.

I see fossils in the ground.

I see evolutionary traits in animals in plants which seem to compliment 'survival of the fittest' theories.

I see a book, written by people and compiled selectively by other people a few years later.

I beleive what seems to be the most prominent.....

Re: The World is only 7000 years old
In 1517 A.D. there began a Reformation of the Roman Catholic Church that ruled the empire with a tyrannical iron fist. This would turn into what is Protestantism.

The Church's response to this upset of escaping free thinking Bible believers who no longer needed the Church was to launch the counter-reformation.

Many methods have been employed to end the Protestant civilization bringing these territories back under the control of Rome.

The Holy Bible, believed to be the Word of God, being the basis for Protestantism (Bible believing Christianity) comes under attack repeatedly through history, having been banned, outlawed, and attemps at discrediting.

The Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest use their pagan pseudoscience teaching of uniformitarian evolution to explain the universe and how life came about for the purpose of discrediting the Word of God in hopes of reviving the papal states under the Pope after the people have lost interest in the Bible, which does not support any such heirarchy papal rule. And 500 years on, it is working.

ONE of the most delicious paradoxes in the history of education is the fact that the Society of Jesus, a Catholic Reformation order founded by Ignatius of Loyola in the 16th century, was the greatest single publicity machine for the literature of pagan antiquity from the late Renaissance until the French Revolution.

The ethos of the Society of Jesus was an apostolic one: its members were called less to contemplate than to preach, to harvest souls, to exert influence in the world. The order attracted active types - missionaries, musicians, mathematicians, artists, architects, scientists and poets -- and all Jesuits were required to do a stint of teaching in the society's free humanist schools.

The Jesuits are rightly acclaimed as the educators of early modern Catholic Europe. Among their brilliant alumni were Rene Descartes and Voltaire. While their curriculum and pedagogical methods were based on Renaissance models, the Society of Jesus translated traditional elements into a spectacularly successful formula of their own, forging an international educational empire that stretched from Rome to Russia, Mexico to Macau.

In an absolute, there is no way one can prove the age of the earth, one way or another. I can't prove it is 6983 years old, but I can't prove without an absolute doubt, that the earth is 20 billion years old either. It is what somebody takes faith in.

When was the last time you heard of unexplainable things happening to 'bad' people? Probably this flood was the last time.

Global Flood?
That would be about 5x the amount of ocean than now, which leads to 5x the amount in the atmosphere, you would drown when you inhaled.
Where did all that water go?

I have not come across evidence of Global flood at the same time on the planet, global flooding took place, but not all at the same time.

Im still looking into this.....I will post some vids and info I came across awhile back but have misplaced them.

Two floods described in the bible.

The first after the Earth became formless and void, destroyed after the previous kingdoms of the s.a.tan.

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Go to the Hebrew and find out the more sure meaning but only for those who want to know and can have the fortitude to be open to better understanding from above. It won't make any difference if you know everything perfectly or not but is a blessing for those who can better understand what the creator of all things has done to put the s.a.tan in his place. Now the choice is open to follow after good or evil and soon the choosing will be over.

If you already know everything, you have what satisfies you.

One other thing, if Man supposedly has been evolving from its ape like beginnings over 500,000 years ago or more, we have only in the last 4000 years begun to write, build, invent etc... surely at that rate of development,if we began to evolve a million years ago, we would have colonised other planets or whatever by now...the time period does not fit

Fantasy religion? look at your own religion first before classing others as fantasy. Plus, there are lots of examples, look at the Galapagos islands for starters.

Natural selection preserves a strong genome, it in no way causes evolution.
Evolution happens over a very long time, trying to monitor it in our time-scales is fruitless.

I see a book, written by people and compiled selectively by other people a few years later.

You don't even know what you are talking about. The scriptures existed before the RCC. The early first century patriarchs letters prove that as well as the dead sea scrolls.
I understand the basic fact that the Gospels were written by men. Then they were selected by men to be part of the Bible, bits were left out, some were classed as heresy and what remains is classed as the word of God. Also, this 'word of God' has been allowed to be changed over time and revised, compacted etc. Ever heard of Chinese whispers?

I'm sometimes stunned how people can think the world/universe is only 7000 years old....

The scientific proof is everywhere. Fossils? Geology? Carbon Dating?

Just looking through a telescope proves that the whole universe is billions of years old. Light takes millions of years to reach us from most stars. If the universe is 7000 years old, How can we see the stars?
 Quoting: Clavain

It's all about the assumptions:

1) That carbon-14 is constant in the atmosphere - shown not to be the case - huge variances

2) That being entombned in rock does not affect breakdown

3) That the speed of light is a constant - when scientists have shown that it can speed up or slow down, depending on what it passes through.

Im still looking into this.....I will post some vids and info I came across awhile back but have misplaced them.
Peace......:)

One estimate of the volume of water in the atmosphere at any one time is about 3,100 cubic miles (mi3) or 12,900 cubic kilometers (km3). That may sound like a lot, but it is only about 0.001 percent of the total Earth's water volume of about 332,500,000 mi3 (1,385,000,000 km3), as shown in the table below. If all of the water in the atmosphere rained down at once, it would only cover the ground to a depth of 2.5 centimeters, about 1 inch.

Maybe a flood would be possible if all the ice melted as well? I don't know.

Re: The World is only 7000 years old
Two floods described in the bible.

So genesis doesn't depict the creation of this reality but instead depict the resurection of human mankind?

Also Lucifer wasn't around prior to adam and eve eating the apple.
 Quoting: shevar 361032

If you're going to use biblical terms ou need at least to use the right ones.

Lucifer is the mortal grandson of EL.

He wasn't around until after the flood.

His father Satan is the one you want.

The Bible is a book. Get over it. There are many books. ALL written by man. This one by jews and for jews and the "inferior". Look at the actions of followers of jesus and leaders claiming they are followers. ooooops. Yeah ...actions speak louder than words. The representatives are definately showing jesus teachings everyday. Fact: The bible is about jews who are gods "CHOSEN" ooops, and the jewish messiah who saves humanity. Fact: christians kill humans and back it up with the bible. These myths run our country and are currently destroying the middle east. I dont see a Buddhist Monk ARMY going into other countries do you? Hey you want to believe in a sun worshiping cult like christianity and say the world is 7 instead of however old it is,if infact it even applys go ahead. How old is the world is irrelevent in light of how many bible thumpers killing in the name of jesus. Go ahead and "rebuke" me.

The striking me as most alarming in all of this is your incessant propensity to lie. Don't you possess a concscience?

It is when I consider the reality that individuas like you are at large, that they educate children, that they create broadcast material... any doubts about the validity of reorts about a great Satan vanish.

You should be happy there is no God. Because if there was odds are you would be worshiping the wrong one, and in his fit of jealous rage he would send you to hell to be tortured forever.

Because he loves you.

Remember, GOD needs MONEY.

However if you object to the speed of light (c), then I suggest you cash out of our society, and bang some rocks together on some tech denying commune.

Clearly your rejection of medicine and technology doesn't stop a hypocrite like yourself from using them.

I'm laughing at your "morality" while you use the tools of "Satan".

Re: The World is only 7000 years old
Sure, the earth is billions of years old, and soon, 12 foot tall aliens will be landing on earth, to tell you they are extraterrestrials.
Whatever it takes to prove there is no God.
If one is blind, then they cannot see. Words do not create light for the blind, only the Spirit can do that.
If one is adamantly against the truth, no amount of light will illuminate them.
In an absolute, there is no way one can prove the age of the earth, one way or another. I can't prove it is 6983 years old, but I can't prove without an absolute doubt, that the earth is 20 billion years old either. It is what somebody takes faith in.
It is simply a choice of the mind.
When you die, you will go where you choose to follow.

So what you're saying is: Nothing can be absolutely proven.

According to some of the oldest writings known to men, there were people who thought just as you pretend to.

The earth split open, water gushed out and all of them were killed horribly.

There's a lesson there for you personally.

If this is meant to scare me, I can assure you it didn't work. I believe the flood happened, but not on such a grand scale, plus the Ark is nonsense (unless they kept DNA somehow with lost ancient knowledge). I believe it happened and I believe it killed a lot of people. But innocent people died too, believers died too.

When was the last time you heard of unexplainable things happening to 'bad' people? Probably this flood was the last time.

In my experience, it seems the 'bad' people dont get any worse treatment throughout their life than the devote belivers who do everything 'right'

I want to do what is best for the Species of Humans that are my family. I want to be a moral person who cares for others, but I don't need a reward like eternal life to be good. I think it is the end when my brain dies. But I am not sad, I am happy becasue I saw this life and was conscious of myself. I was and I am.

I doubt you'll feel the same way when you're about to die.
The one thing they don't tell you and the one thing always forgotten is that regardless of whether or not you'll be back... death is the most awful thing one can ever experience.

You say my comments do not scare you. That's fine. Similar comments did not scare people in Noah's time, but you can rest assured that when they heard the Earth's crust ripping, when it all wouldn't stop, and when they saw the sky end -- in a matter of moments -- they experienced the kind of fear not often repeated.

It's a kind of fear so potent -- it is risidual. It survives without the memory of death because death itself is not retained in the ethereal engram.

If I were you I would pray that my aloof and irreverent denials, my determined and deliberate opposition, my wicked suppression of truth -- does not result in a very sudden and very present reminder of a past trauma, because there aren't many effective ways to describe what I mean.

Please do not tell me how I will feel before I die. I think I would be inhuman if I did not feel human emotions. Yes I feel fear of dying, but no fear of Hell, or excitement of Heaven. I accept that it is the end when I die, for all things.

If you can call me all those things, Wicked, aloof and opposed then what are you? Yes I am standing by my beliefs, I am looking at the facts laid out before me and I am choosing the most acceptable to me. I am trying to explain how my thinking works to you all. And I think I am right.
 Quoting: Clavain

I'm telling you how you will feel when you die because it is the way others who have spoken like you felt before they were ended.

You have a callous and ugly policy which amounts to nothimg more than rejection of truth.

This why your death will be as horrible as can be arranged.
