Hamas: Israel disregards Gaza ceasefire commitments:

Hamas on Monday accused Israel of disregarding its commitments made before Egypt in a Gaza ceasefire deal.

"Israel did not implement any provision of the lull's deal related to the lifting of the siege," said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoom.

"The commercial crossings into Gaza did not open, the blockade is in place and the Zionist violations increase day by day," Barhoom added.

43 nations to seek Middle East free of WMDs:

More than 40 nations, including Israel and Arab states, agreed Sunday to work for a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

A final declaration from a summit launching the Union for the Mediterranean says the members will "pursue a mutually and effectively verifiable Middle East Zone free of weapons of mass destruction."

That includes nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, as well as their delivery systems, the statement says. The countries will "consider practical steps to prevent the proliferation" of such weapons, it says.

High military tension over Iranian presence on strategic Lebanese peak

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

July 14, 2008, 6:29 PM (GMT+02:00)
Ani-air missiles in last Hizballah parade

Ani-air missiles in last Hizballah parade

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that Israel has placed its military and air forces on its northern borders on high alert after Iran and Syria ignored Jerusalem’s warning, relayed to Washington, that the continued presence of Iranian, Syrian and Hizballah officers on the strategic Lebanese Sannine peak may spark a military clash.

Monday, July 14, two days ahead of the prisoner swap with Hizballah, Israel’s army spokesmen disclosed that Iranian officers had assumed command of Hizballah’s fighting units.

Our military sources report that the disclosure, which further fueled the cross-border tension, referred to the Iranian officers in command of Hizballah teams atop the 7,800-foot Mt. Sannine peak, whence they can monitor and menace US Sixth Fleet movements in the eastern Mediterranean and Israeli Air Force flights.

Iranian officers have also been attached to Hizballah’s anti-air, surface, and shore-to-ship missile units across Lebanon.

All Israel’s military, police and security contingents are also on the ready in case of trouble flaring immediately after Israel and Hizballah exchange prisoners Wednesday. They estimate that once the exchange is out of the way, Hizballah will unleash a cross-border assault and terrorist action inside Israel, its promised revenge for the killing of their military commander Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus last February for which they blame Israel.

Israel’s restraint against Hamas’ missiles campaign from Gaza, despite repeated threats, has left Hizballah and Tehran unmoved by its warning on Lebanon.

The electrical vibes on the Israel-Lebanese border have not reached Paris or impacted President Nicolas Sarkozy’s drive, encouraged by the Bush administration, to end Bashar Assad’s international isolation and so cut him away from his alliance with Iran and ties with Hizballah.

The very opposite process is racing fast forward in the Middle East. In Lebanon, Syria and Iran are operating in close sync to carve Lebanon up between them and seize strategic locations - fully exploiting the willful blindness of Paris and Washington.

Israel gives info on Iranian diplomats:

Hezbollah has received an Israeli report that includes information about the fate of four Iranian diplomats kidnapped 26 years ago.

German mediator Gerhard Conrad, who was appointed by the UN to facilitate a prisoner swap between Hezbollah and Israel, handed over a final report on the fate of four missing Iranian diplomats to the Lebanese movement, informed sources told Beirut's As-Safir daily on Monday.

Hezbollah received the report as part of an information exchange between the two sides before the prisoner swap, which is scheduled to take place next Wednesday at the Ras Al-Naqoura border point.

According to the sources, the report contains details of an Israeli investigation in Lebanon that involved questioning former Phalangist leaders about the abduction and transfer of the four diplomats to Beirut.

Iranian diplomats Ahmad Motevasselian, Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam and Kazem Akhavan were abducted by armed Phalangists in northern Lebanon in 1982 and handed over to the Israeli army that was occupying the country at the time.

The Phalange is one of the groups that make up the Lebanese Forces Party, which is currently led by Samir Geagea -- a politician of the ruling March 14 alliance.

In April 1975, Phalangist militiamen carried out the Bus Massacre, which is widely recognized as the first spark that led to the Lebanese Civil War.

The coming five months are the pinnacle of doom and gloom for all! I am still 100% sure of the war that is coming at Israel like a runaway freight-train loaded with weapons of mass destruction. The whole world will feel the repercussions.

Israel is quite close to starting the war in the coming days based upon Iranian agents and military in Lebanon. Further, take the following article to heart. I ahve told you ALL about this before.

Kuwaiti Paper: Hizbullah Arming Rockets With Gas

(IsraelNN.com) The Kuwaiti daily al-Siyasa reported today that Hizbullah has acquired the chemicals needed to make chemical weapons such as nerve gas or mustard gas from North Korean suppliers and is allegedly preparing to arm its Katyusha rockets with chemical warheads. The Kuwaiti paper also declared that the assistance of Syria and Iran was crucial for Hizbullah’s efforts. The reports were based on information provided to al-Siyasa by Syrian opposition figures in the United States.

DEBKA sure is treating this as something culminating in war. Take note today that Barak says the un resolution at the end of the war is worthless today. But - not too much more on this. Taking the fact that Hezbollah is in serious preps for war, the window is quickly coming towards the events. Iran stated yesterday that they would cut off the hands of the enemies before they can fire their weapons. It leads me to beleive that all of the bellicaose statements are now coming togather to coax one side or the other to attack sooner verses later in the year.

Intelligence had pinned the attack on Iran to October by Israel. Though Olmert has been trying to extend thsi period into next year by testing the anti-air 300 system from Russia that Iran will soon have over Greece with the Greek's permission. Further, Olmert has been trying to lure Syria to the good side, but it has not yet happenned. Also, Olmert is trying to rapidly purchase more types of aircraft before the attack, but that would takes five or more months to even acquire one new craft.
Now, Olmert is likley to leave, opening the door to a more rapid timeline as the new government realizes what a f'n mess was left by Olmert as he has tried to juggle many enemies towards a peace that wll not happen without one more war.
Now, with the amber light on, the atatck should be by October. That is with all intelligence.

HOWEVER - it now appears the game plan may change to a shortened version that is preciptated by an attack on Isarel by the Hezbollah. Further, Iran is so sure of a coming attack that they may in fact steal the ball and run on Israel much sooner.

Iran, EU to discuss nuclear 'timetable': Ahmadinejad:

Iran said on Monday its top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana will this week discuss a "timetable" for future negotiations to break the deadlock in the atomic crisis.

"In these talks (between Jalili and Solana) the framework of talks and timetable of talks" will be discussed, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in an interview with state television.

Pressed about the length of the timetable, Ahmadinejad said it did not matter whether it lasted for four weeks, six weeks or eight weeks, without giving further details.

"Maybe it is four weeks, maybe it eight weeks. It depends on the trend of the talks. There was never an emphasis from each side on this."

Jalili and Solana are due to meet in Geneva on Saturday.

Media reports say world powers have offered Iran to start pre-negotiations over a six-week period during which Tehran would add no more uranium-enriching centrifuges and in return no further sanctions would be imposed.

"The agenda of the (Jalili-Solana) talks includes topic (for future talks), timetable, how the decision in each phase is taken and the negotiating partners. In these talks it will be determined," Ahmadinejad said.

He said Iran was prepared to hold talks with any country over the nuclear crisis, except its arch-enemy Israel, implying it would be prepared to hold negotiations with the United States.

Solana last month presented on behalf of world powers a package that aimed to end the nuclear crisis, offering Tehran technological incentives if it suspended sensitive uranium enrichment operations.

Ahmadinejad and other Iranian leaders have repeatedly vowed that Tehran will never suspend enrichment as demanded by world powers, which fear Iran could use the process to make a nuclear weapon.

But Tehran has never ruled out accepting the so-called "freeze-for-freeze" in a pre-negotiation phase to build trust between the two sides.

The idea was not contained in the formal offer handed to Iran by Solana and made public by the European Union. Until Ahmadinejad's comments, few officials from either side had spoken of it.

The renewed diplomatic efforts come after Iran last week intensified tensions in the nuclear standoff by conducting two days of missile tests, which included the firing of a missile that it says can reach Israel.

The United States and its regional ally Israel have never ruled out a military attack to end Iran's controversial nuclear work, which the West fears could be used to make weapons -- a charge vehemently denied by Iran.

Iran's defiant refusal to suspend enrichment has seen it hit by three sets of UN Security Council sanctions as well as unilateral US and European measures against its financial system

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that his ministry is to name a new spokesman soon.

Mottaki told a press conference after a weekly cabinet session that Iran and the 5+1 group will hold talks at the level of special envoys, namely Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana.

He said the talks will follow the goal of drawing up a modality or action plan to facilitate essential talks between the two sides.

On continuation of the Iran-U.S. talks on Iraq, Mottaki said Tehran will consider demands, if any, for the talks.

Asked about Iranian Interior Ministry officials’ imminent visit to Pakistan, Mottaki said the visit aims to hold talks on fighting terrorism there.

Israel arrests 12 Hamas members in West Bank:

Israeli troops arrested 12 Hamas members in a dawn raid in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, a Palestinian security official said, as part of a widening crackdown on the movement.

The troops rolled into the northern city of Nablus in about 40 jeeps and detained 12 members of the Islamist movement, including two women and two city council members, the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

An Israeli army spokesman said seven Palestinians had been arrested during "routine searches" in the area.

Israel has launched a territory-wide crackdown on Palestinian charities and businesses it says are linked to the armed movement, which violently seized power in the Gaza Strip in June 2007.

Israel has long feared a repeat of the Gaza takeover -- in which gunmen swiftly routed forces loyal to the Western-backed Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas -- in the West Bank.

Abbas's government has however accused Israel of undermining its own efforts to improve security in the territory as part of US-sponsored peace talks relaunched in November.

On green and yellow lights from Washington:

This week's Times of London report quoting a Pentagon official that President George W. Bush has given Israel an "amber light" - somewhere between green and red - to prepare for possible military strike against Iran's has generated a whirlwind of speculation in Israeli media circles. The timing of the Pentagon revelation also piques curiosity. It comes less a week after the visit in Israel of Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, who reportedly warned Jerusalem that Washington has not given Israel a "green light" to do anything.

These conflicting signals were further crossed by last week's visit of a former Pentagon official, Tony Cordesman. His central message also was that the United States had not "green lighted" a potential Israeli military strike against Iranian nuclear sites. It was Cordesman who asserted that this position had been communicated during Mullen's stopover.

What is going on? Disinformation, or perhaps a heated debate in Washington into which Israel has been thrust in the middle? Cordesman's widely reported remarks at Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University and at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs may provide insight into the contradictory signaling from Washington.

Blair Postpones Gaza Visit Due to `Specific Security Threat':

Middle East envoy Tony Blair postponed a visit to the Gaza Strip scheduled for today due to ``a specific security threat,'' his office said.

Blair would have been the most senior Western official to visit Gaza since the Islamic militant Hamas group seized power in June 2007. He didn't immediately arrange another date for his visit, John Ging, operations director for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in Gaza, said in a telephone interview.

``Unfortunately, Mr. Blair has had to postpone his visit to Gaza due to a specific security threat which would have made it irresponsible to proceed, not just for those visiting but also the local community,'' Blair's London office said in an e-mailed statement without elaborating on the threat.
