For what it's worth, my husband, who has gout, hasn't had an attack in several years, and he takes no meds. What he does do, though, is take an alka seltzer (regular) every day. He likes the stuff. He does not observe any special diet, enjoys beer and wine.

For the short term, however, cherries are supposed to be a good treatment.
