Pirate Music... sure, but please NOT METAL!
I am all for pirating the music of popular artists who make millions of dollars they don't need the money and their music isn't even that good most of the time. I could care less whether or not Britney Spears makes 15$ from you on her new album, but take note- Metal is not like other genres; it is not popular music and the musicians don't make much. I may be beating a dead horse here, but I read something yesterday that really pissed me off in a review of Nevermore's This Godless Endeavor. Someone posted a story in a comment about the first time they met Jeff Loomis (Nevermore's incredible guitarist) in a bar. Loomis was scraping change together to buy a drink, luckily the guy bought the drink for him. The days of 80s metal glory are long gone and metal musicians of this day do not have such luxuries in their life. Think about this next time you pirate a metal CD.
You may say that the artist doesn't get much from CD sales anyhow, that they make their money in concerts etc. Well, you may be right for the most part, but maintaining record contracts is relative to CD sales, and so is the quality of venues played at etc, and so CD sales do affect the income of the artist. Listen to it online, and if you like it, PLEASE buy it.
Peace
