Congrats you guys. New Madrid Fault zone, however I must add this. The New Madrid Fault zone might throw off nothing, or a major 6.5+ quake. Was this a precursor? This happens in Southern California. Best of luck to you all.
I'm worried about it being a precursor. Usually the precursor roll, the the big one shake the crap out of you.I'm just going by personal experience...I don't want to set anyone off. I am not WEINLAND...LOL. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 411417
No, usually the big one comes first followed by less intense ones.

"About 30 seconds ago, my outside window started vibrating. It was either due to a plane or a small EQ. Odd thing is, I didn't hear any plane but there was a definate, audible vibration on the window that latest for about 15-30 seconds. Anyone have a link to EQ monitoring sites?" |

A devastating earthquake strikes San Francisco at 5:13 a.m., followed by a major aftershock three hours later. More than 3,000 people are killed from either collapsing structures or any of the 59 separate fires which burn over the next three days. In the downtown area, the U.S. Army is forced to dynamite whole city blocks in order to contain the flames, due to the lack of water pressure. |

I got a pretty intense pain in my chest area, close to the heart before this happened and while it was happening.
Now the pain is still in my chest and it has moved to my head as well, intense pressure. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 414983
You're probably having a stroke, call 911! |

Where in Michigan are you? I'm right outside of Detroit, and haven't felt anything yet. Quoting: ajk
Near Jackson. According to the local news, people around my area were woken up by the quake. They called the TV station and 911. |

Quakes have been known to set off other quakes on other faults. The New Madrid is about 100 years overdue for a big quake. The last big ones were in 1811 and 1812, both of which were over 8.0 on the Richter scale. |
