"To me, terrorism is exciting"
Quote

"To me, terrorism is exciting. It's exciting. I think the very idea that you can set off a bomb in a market place and kill several hundred people is exciting and stimulating, and I see it as a form of entertainment. [crowd roars] Entertainment. That's all it is. But I also know that most Americans are soft and frightened and unimaginative and they don't realize that there's such a thing as dangerous fun, and they certainly don't recognize a good show when they see one." -George Carlin, 1999

Above quote stated at 06:53

Notice the date in which he made that statement, 1999. Let's read what he said directly before what I cited earlier:
There's too much security at airports. There's no logic at all. They'll take away a gun but let you keep a knife. Well, what the fuck is that? In fact, there's a whole list of lethal objects they will allow you to take on board. Theoretically, you could take a knife, an ice pick, a hatchet, a straight razor, a pair of scissors, a chainsaw, six knitting needles and a broken whiskey bottle, and the only thing they're going to say to you is, 'that bag has to fit all the way under the seat in front of you.' And if you didn't bring a weapon on board, relax. After you've been flying for about an hour, they're going to bring you a knife and fork. They actually give you a fucking knife! It's only a table knife, but you could kill a pilot with a table knife.

Airport security is a stupid idea, it's a waste of money, and it's only there for one reason: to make white people feel safe. That's all. The illusion, the feeling and illusion of safety, to placate the middle class, 'cause the authorities know they can't make an airplane completely safe. Oh, and by the way, an airplane flight shouldn't be completely safe. You need a little danger in your life. Take a fucking chance once and a while, will ya? What are you gonna do, play with your prick for another thirty years? Read people magazine and eat at wendy's until the end of time? Take a fuckin' chance. Besides, even if they made all the airplanes completely safe, the terrorists would simply start bombing other places that are crowded, [but] the odds of you being killed by a terrorist are practically zero. So I say relax and enjoy the show.

You have to be a realist. You have to be realistic about terrorism. Certain groups of people, certain groups, Muslim fundamentalists, Christian fundamentalists, Jewish fundamentalists, and just plain guys from Montana are going to continue to make life in this country very interesting for a long, long time. That's the reality. Angry men in combat fatigues talking to god on a two-way radio and muttering incoherent slogans about freedom are eventually going to provide us with a great deal of entertainment, especially after your stupid fucking economy collapses all around you and the terrorists come out of the woodwork, and you'll have anthrax in your water supply. And I say, enjoy it, relax, enjoy the show, take a fucking chance, put a little fun in your life.
 Quoting: George Carlin, 1999

People who claim to be 'seers' have nothing on the accuracy of what Carlin just said, especially considering the detail of it. He states:
1- You can bring a weapon onto a commercial airliner.
2- Implies for purpose of hijacking
3- Emphasizes 'white people' in racist manner
4- Emphasizes Muslims
5- Suggests economic collapse
Note 'your stupid fucking economy,' yet he was born in the US, lives in the US, works in the US and is a US citizen.
Recall 'Most Americans are soft and frightened and unimaginative...'

This interests me the most:
"Angry men in combat fatigues...muttering slogans about freedom are eventually going to provide us with a great deal of entertainment, especially after your stupid fucking economy collapses all around you and the terrorists come out of the woodwork, and you'll have anthrax in your water supply."
Basically, he talks about the 'Muslims' committing 9/11, but after the economy collapses, the 'terrorists' will be 'plain guys from Montana.' Perhaps at that point, the enemy of the 'terrorists' poison the water supply so as to cripple their opponent. Alternately, a terrorist faction may do that themselves.

Carlin openly communicates in his shows and in his interviews that his purpose for existence is entertainment, that he is "here for the show". He professes a hearty schadenfreude in watching the rich spectrum of humanity slowly self-destruct, in his estimation, of its own design; saying, "When you're born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America, you get a front-row seat." He acknowledges that this is a very selfish thing, especially since he includes large human catastrophes as entertainment.

In a late-1990s interview with radio talk show host Art Bell, he remarked about his view of human life: "I think we're already 'circling the drain' as a species, and I'd love to see the circles get a little faster and a little shorter."
 Quoting: [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Considering his the accuracy of his 'predictions,' the curious suggestions regarding our possible future, his distaste for Americans, his sadist characteristics, his satire of the government corruption, oppression and the ridiculousness of humanity and its society, his former occupation as an Airman in the USAF, and I again reiterate the accuracy of his predictions, might this man know something? Lastly I'd like to point out that if you briefly look through his history, if you are familiar with his comedy routines, and if you're aware of the way the world 'secretly' operates, you'll draw no other conclusion than he is very aware of the true nature of our reality, and may have been knowledgeable his entire life - well longer than most of us here have even been alive. For example, knew elections were an 'illusion of choice' by the early 70s.

This man certainly isn't your average comedian, but just how just how distinct from his colleagues is he? Does he know something? Is he involved in something? I wonder..

Even if not, we still end up with a guy who avidly claims to love terrorism, to get off on the suffering of others, had a pretty damn good idea of the tragedies to soon come, and then suggested a few future events which seem a lot more likely now than they did when he first spoke of them. And all the while, he practically just made the statement in passing.

Also, I think there's something to be said regarding the crowd of people (Americans) who you can hear cheering after Carlin made his 'terrorism is exciting' statement. When I first heard that, it shocked me, stopped me dead in my tracks, and literally sent chills down my spine. Sure, all humans have a certain tendency to enjoy death and destruction to some extent (look at the movies, books and music we love for instance), but for so many to be so blatant about their joy of an intense, honorless variation of it - well as I said, I was shocked.

In 1999 you would get a different reaction than you would today. Carlin is just a guy with some common sense and he has a big audience to hear him, but he wasn't alone in his thoughts before 2001, similar statements from others and certainly more regular people who were pretty aware and thought the same are just harder to find record of.

Precious cups within the flower, deadly petals with strange power
Faces shine a deadly smile, back up on you at your trial
Chill and numbed from head to toe, icy sun with frosty glow
Wall of Sleep is lying broken, sun shines in, you have awoken

You may be right about that, and I must admit that's something which was going through my head as I was writing the original post. Even so, as I said in its conclusion, "We still end up with a guy who avidly claims to love terrorism, to get off on the suffering of others," and so forth.

It seems to me that alone is noteworthy itself. I'm surprised to hear though that it doesn't seem shocking that Americans would cheer terrorism at the time. I wonder how many were watching the towers falling, and were enjoying it.
