It means there is a bump in the pavement ahead of you. Either an intentional speed bump or just an unevenness in the road ahead.

It means you're allowed to "bump" in your car until you see a "do not bump" sign.

Just like the "pass" and "do not pass" signs allow you to fart or not to fart.

I just figured out that 'pin' means to mark a thread to keep it at the top of the list.

If you'll go to the main forum page, you'll see some threads there which are 'pinned'.

One day, maybe we'll all be as smart as some of you long-time internet users. Seems to me that if an honest question is asked, an nice answer should be given.

But, maybe you are just as smart as you sound. Hmmmmm?

OP,
If you post a reply to any thread it "bumps" the thread to the top of the first page of the current day, unless of course there are "pinned" threads. Posting a reply to a "pinned" thread will "bump" it to the top of the first page AND to the top of the "pinned" threads of the current day.

If you wish to bring a thread from a previous day, or a thread from pages 2,3,4, etc to page 1 of the current day AND YOU HAVE NO COMMENT TO MAKE, you can just use the bump sign to bring the thread to the fore.

OP it means to bump the thread to the top of the list again. It pushes the thread to the top of page one every time you post.

Pin means keep it at the top of page one.

What you see is nursing behavior, which some cats never seem to outgrow. When they are nursing on the mother, they 'knead' with their paws, reportedly to help draw milk to the teat.

You've never had a cat before if you don't know!

Kitties like to knead soft places before they lay down to sleep on them.

Re: What does the symbol "BUMP" mean?Quote

"Bump" is essentially keeping a thread alive by "bumping" it to the top of the webpage or on top of all the forum posts or on the first page. People bumping your thread means they think it's an important one for people to read and discuss.

OMFG, are you letting a cat feed off of your breasts, and you just have a towel with a hole in it over your breasts so the cat's claws don't hurt you?

No wonder you made up that response of yours.

Re: What does the symbol "BUMP" mean?Quote

"Bump" means that the thread cannot stand on its own, but the poster wants to make sure that thread stays near the top because it somehow reinforces their point of view or makes them feel important. When I see that a thread is being bumped too much, I quit reading it.
