Just ice falling off a wing. There's an inordinate amount of air traffic in athens, chattanooga, and knoxville. I've seen knoxville get sprayed by black stuff in grids from huge low flying four prop military craft. I had to work there that day and was glad to leave the city even though I had to put up with 4:00 rush hour getting out.
