I need to find some link to back this up but I have read several places that the police interviewed the last two women seen talking with him on that tape.
Randy Shaffer,Brian's dad,actually went to them,shortly before he died last year,begging them to think and try to remember any details they could. He was desperate.
Like I said,I'll get links.Actually better yet,I have a letter that was written to me by someone who was a close friend of Randy's after his wife died(which was also 2 weeks before Brian "disappeared".
Let me go get that letter so I can copy and paste it.

Hi Jessica-
Thank you so much for your email. I, for one, truly appreciate your interest in Brian's case. His case haunts me and keeps me awake at nights. I had the pleasure of becoming very good friends with his father and it absolutely breaks my heart what has occurred to one family. It just does not seem fair. I will continue to fight to keep Brian's name out there and keep on the investigators that are working on the case. I just spoke with Kevin Miles on Friday (from Crimestoppers) as well as the private detective that is researching his case. I just pray each night for justice in this case.
I read Kristi's blog and really appreciate you contacting her. Columbus Monthly is publishing an article in April regarding the impact of Randy's death on the search for Brian. I haven't seen it yet but will hopefully have a copy soon. The more we can keep his name in the media, the better for our chances of finding him.

04/05/09: Dan Zamlen, 18, St. Paul, MN MISSING
Eighteen-year old Dan Zamlen, a freshman at the University of St. Thomas went missing today.
Zamlen left a party hosted by classmates near the St. Thomas campus, reportedly upset about something. He was walking along Mississippi River Blvd near St. Clair Avenue on a trail. The trail had a grassy area next to it and then a sharp, wooded slope. He said he was headed to the University of Minnesota to meet some friends and was talking to friend Anna Chappuis on his cell phone who said she would pick him up. It was 2:30 a.m., and although she does not remember word for word what he said, Chappuis says she remembers hearing, "Oh my God. Help." before the call ended abruptly. Police believe he may have gotten too close to the river and slipped.

Friends tried looking for him and called him repeatedly, getting his voicemail each time until about 6:00 a.m. when his phone went dead. At 8:30 a.m., his friends called police.
Search teams scoured the bluffs and banks of the Mississippi all morning and afternoon. Helicopters with infared flew overhead, water patrol checked along shore, and friends and family searched in culverts, brush, trees and alleys. Police did find a footprint that could be Dan's. The footprint, however, was leading away from the river, in the direction of the road. But they can't say for certain that it is his.
The situation is made more dire by the fact that Dan is a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump.
St. Thomas spokesperson Jim Winterer described Zamlen as 6-foot tall weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
Anyone with information about Zamlen is asked to contact the school's public safety department at 651-962-5555.

People like boyinthemachine are control freaks at best. They are probably debunkers. We as the people outside the investigation have no access to the evidence. Some evidence is even kept from the families. I believe anything we say here is ok and should be ignored if it in someone's view it doesn't fit. That is what I try to do.
If, just if, these activities were controlled in some way but were worldwide, then different cells of killers would have different MOs but still you could find similar satanic clues. Burnt out cars might belong to a different cell/gang family. I am in no way suggesting Gannon,Duarte or Piehl should follow those leads. They are spread to thin as it is.
In the graffiti I noticed a symbol that one of Hitler's group used, but I'm sure it would upset Babyboyinthemachine if I pointed it out because it doesn't fit into his gameplan.
I don't believe in Satanism, but that isn't going to keep killers from using it to their advantage. There are clues of that crap. Why should we be boycotted by loudmouthed control freaks. He should be shut out for censorship.
If you were in a detective office brainstorming, how would you like that wet blanket trying to shout you down. Heck, maybe there are plenty of those types in the ranks. I don't like being put in a straitjacket, so to speak, even if I am kindda crazy.

The fact that the message has been distorted is NOT the friends fault - it is the fault of the press. After talking to one of the girls myself, they said they were so worried and freaked out that it was impossible for them to understand what he was trying to say. On top of that, it was really windy that night and they were having trouble hearing him as is. They know they heard the words "Oh my God, Help!" and that was enough to make them panic and call police. Outside of that, do the exact words matter?
And as for the dispute at the party, it is REALLY not worth mentioning. It was nothing to cause any suspicion or further investigation. |

I was just down on the opposite side of the river. There's nice safe hiking trails at 38th and Mississippi River Blvd West in Minneapolis. There's a little path leading down from the bike trail at street level. St. Clair would connect with 38th if it spanned the river.
You can see the bluff clearly through the trees with binoculars and you can see people walking around over there. There are very few places where he could have slid down the bank into the river. There are too many trees.
An chopper with spotters could probably see everything they would need to see, and I don't buy their reluctance to put boats on the river. There are boats that could fight that current. It's not that bad. We're 4 days into this thing and they're still struggling with that bluff? Come on! There's not that much land area down there.
I'm starting to think like other people who believe he was probably abducted.

Todd Geib was from Ravenna where he once attended high school, but his body was found in a rural lake northeast of town, close to a party he attended. Todd's last known contact was at 12:50 AM when he made a call to say "I'm in a field", then the call abruptly ended. This is similer to the case of missing Marshall, Minnesota student Brandon Swanson, who has not been heard from since his call also abruptly ended. It is possible that the killers are using cell phone jammers to keep a victim from making or completing a call.

Simon Kekana (1996) informs me that, these days, "[c]onceptions of mermaids are fairly common in South Africa;" and that the Sotho folktales of the mamolapo or mamogashoa tell how it lures over-confident young men to their dooms by appearing in the guise of a "very beautiful and attractive" mermaid. Like the old khanyapa, these Sotho mermaids, when angered, travel about as horrifying tornadoes. |
