Die drinking 3. Become incarcerated. What about the 4th option??? 4. Just don't drink. Become a functioning member in society without participating cult indoctrinating mantras, and never have to label yourself alcoholic. Ever. When do you hear that option at meetings??? BUT IT'S NOT A CULT!!!!????? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 376712 United States 04/30/2008 03:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i'm not all opposed to AA for those it helps, but due to the nature of the program you also get a lot of people who in attempting to fix themselves drag other people into their problems by trying to make amends with them when the last thing they want to do is have any contact with these people anymore. i know you aren't supposed to make amends with people that it would cause more harm than good, but you also have people who are getting advise from other alcoholics that often have less than a year or two of sobriety under their belts. that's one of my major qualms with the program, but to each their own i guess |
Sumati Talveer (OP) User ID: 370329 United States 04/30/2008 03:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You seem a classic in denial. So being in denial you want to sabbotage those who would avail themselves of the help provided by AA?? Quoting: Mickeyblue 330969No it is not a cult. If you don't call them for help they will not call you. Moonies haven't called me. AA tells you you can't leave. And if you do there are only 3 alternatives. I left. So I must become insane. |
Sumati Talveer (OP) User ID: 370329 United States 04/30/2008 03:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP you already made your point in the last thread! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 425771Do you have a problem moving on? If AA has fucked you up this bad you should just sit in the closet and avoid all contact with people because you're too impressionable! that's fair. I am a virtual testimony of AA spirituality. |

If you don't call them for help they will not call you. 3rd tradition. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. When I log into AA affiliated chat room, and simply educate people accurately that AA's architect did LSD, and advocated it, my posts are deleted and I am told to shove-off! The facts are documented in AA literature. What gives?? but what about the only requirement?? |

And no one is required to go. If you don't like it, just don't go. It's that simple. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 425789Where do you get your statistics??? I don't like it. I left. Yet $6.2 billion is spent every year. It's not benign. People ARE REQUIRED TO GO!! The courts stipulate, therapists demand, hospitals admit. Sumati Talveer (OP) User ID: 370329 United States 04/30/2008 03:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Whats the matter didn't get enough the other day with your AA thread--Grow up and move on your starting to become annoying. Don't ya have any dreams with naked aliens or just hung up on the AA chick that dumped ya. ?? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 276543I went to AA for years without getting laid....then I become somewhat successful, with single women. Had time under my belt. Credibility. Had a rather good time. The women are CULT induced and will screw anyone good looking, single and with time. then I got married. My wife went to Al-Anon and was followed out to her car by a male "veteran" member on several occasions. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 425789 United States 04/30/2008 03:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, in my experience, (and I'm not an alcoholic) but in general, the best person to seek for advice is someone who has been there and done that. No two people are alike, and what works for one doesn't work for another, but there are several people at these meetings, so there's several opportunities to find out how each of these people have coped. My husband is a recovering alcoholic and meth addict (almost 9 years now!). He doesn't go to meetings, but has in the past, and he believes they are good. And he really does take it "one day at a time." |

But if he told any AA member this info, they would say he is a DRY DRUNK/ADDICT! instead of emulating his success story. please have him read the Orange Papers. It's very informative and entertaining. |
