AA is a CULT! IMO
If you leave our CULT, you will either:

1. Go insane.
2. Die drinking
3. Become incarcerated.

What about the 4th option???

4. Just don't drink. Become a functioning member in society without participating cult indoctrinating mantras, and never have to label yourself alcoholic. Ever.

When do you hear that option at meetings??? BUT IT'S NOT A CULT!!!!????? bsflag

His point is what you're doing is a fancy pants version of SPAMMING.

We still have your other 6 page thread that tells us how much you detest AA.

Thread: Why do people follow AA???

So just STFU. It's getting old. And I really do think you are delusional. Anyone who takes a look at your profile and your recently posted threads can tell somethin' ain't right upstairs.

OP you already made your point in the last thread!

Do you have a problem moving on?

If AA has fucked you up this bad you should just sit in the closet and avoid all contact with people because you're too impressionable!

You seem a classic in denial. So being in denial you want to sabbotage those who would avail themselves of the help provided by AA??

No it is not a cult. If you don't call them for help they will not call you.

Re: AA is a CULT! IMO
i'm not all opposed to AA for those it helps, but due to the nature of the program you also get a lot of people who in attempting to fix themselves drag other people into their problems by trying to make amends with them when the last thing they want to do is have any contact with these people anymore. i know you aren't supposed to make amends with people that it would cause more harm than good, but you also have people who are getting advise from other alcoholics that often have less than a year or two of sobriety under their belts. that's one of my major qualms with the program, but to each their own i guess

Moonies haven't called me.

AA tells you you can't leave. And if you do there are only 3 alternatives.

I left. So I must become insane.

3rd tradition. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

When I log into AA affiliated chat room, and simply educate people accurately that AA's architect did LSD, and advocated it, my posts are deleted and I am told to shove-off! The facts are documented in AA literature. What gives??

but what about the only requirement??

Where do you get your statistics???

I don't like it. I left. Yet $6.2 billion is spent every year. It's not benign.

People ARE REQUIRED TO GO!! The courts stipulate, therapists demand, hospitals admit. Brittany Spears, classic case. then there was Zakk Wylde that left after one day, climbed the fence, after Sharon Osborne brow beat him to go.

they said I was delusional....

this is my one hour meeting for the day. People have a problem with it????

I went to AA for years without getting laid....then I become somewhat successful, with single women. Had time under my belt. Credibility. Had a rather good time. The women are CULT induced and will screw anyone good looking, single and with time.

then I got married. My wife went to Al-Anon and was followed out to her car by a male "veteran" member on several occasions.

Re: AA is a CULT! IMO
Well, in my experience, (and I'm not an alcoholic) but in general, the best person to seek for advice is someone who has been there and done that. No two people are alike, and what works for one doesn't work for another, but there are several people at these meetings, so there's several opportunities to find out how each of these people have coped.

My husband is a recovering alcoholic and meth addict (almost 9 years now!). He doesn't go to meetings, but has in the past, and he believes they are good. And he really does take it "one day at a time."

GOD bless your husband! But if he told any AA member this info, they would say he is a DRY DRUNK/ADDICT! instead of emulating his success story.

please have him read the Orange Papers. It's very informative and entertaining.

If you are required to go, then your problem must be pretty big. If you don't like AA, then why not choose another treatment center? Use Google.

I've been clean & sober for just over 18 months. I went to AA in the begining, but decided it wasn't for me. Am I considered a "dry drunk"? I know AA helps people, but what helped me was exercise. I exercise six days a week, and have never felt better.
