My milk always begins to go bad 1-2 days before the "expiration date." I believe this heat exchange of even a few degrees causes bacteria to grow and speeds up the spoilage process.. This is juat a personal observation from numerous grocery store chains in my area Success, like happiness, cannot be pursued. It must ensue. Mine lasts at least a week or more after the date. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 426822I have only had this happen rarely in the past. But for the past month or so - it has happened EVERY time!! My Fridge is cold enough - so it is not this! |

gsbltd User ID: 427005 United States 05/02/2008 09:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I stopped buying fresh milk several years ago because it would spoil before I used a full carton [even a 1/2 gal] and switched completely to canned, evaporated milk. It is convenient, I can modify the strength by the amount of water I add and... it doesn't spoil on my pantry shelf. The cost is nearly the same as for fresh milk without the disadvantages; I won't use powdered milk because the flavor tastes artificial, but evaporated milk doesn't have that problem. |

Queen User ID: 422489 United States 05/02/2008 09:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Has anyone else been experiencing that Milk has been going bad long before it is to expire? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 373023For the past month - everytime I have bought milk - it goes bad within a few days!!! Different brands - different stores!! I had been buying gallons - so last time I just got a half gallon!! Expiration is May 09 - and today, May 02, it has gone bad!!! I buy organic, the expiration date is much longer than the regular milk. Check it out. Also try this, organic chickens float and the non-organic don't. There is a difference with the junk they put in these foods. Try it yourself, it just takes the want to see if there is a difference. It is time to awaken to your real purpose. It is all up to you. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 160058 United States 05/02/2008 09:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not a milk drinker, but like to have it around for cooking. And yes, the last four or five quarts, (NOT 1/2 gallons)I have bought started souring before I even opened them, or shortly after. My last container I poured about a tablespoon of colloidal silver in it, and it went eight days before it turned. It's been about five days since then, and it's great now, for biscuits. I skipped over after reading the first thread, and am short on time, if anyone posted already, but does anyone know how well milk freezes? And what do you think about freezing it sour? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 283565 United States 05/02/2008 09:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also noticed this. It was only happening at the one place I always bought it from. I figured out that the temp they were storing it at was too low. I would get it from the store frig and hand it to my wife and we would shake our heads because it felt warm. They're trying to save on the energy bill it seems. |
Sandpiper User ID: 427024 United States 05/02/2008 09:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are you by any chance in SW Georgia? I have had the same problem for three months. At $4.89 a gallon, I started to take mine back to Harvey's. I have since been getting it at Walgreen's $3.89 and it stays good even past the date. I think something is wrong with certain dairies. Talk about a rip off. Even when you purchase food, you can not depend on it being good. All fresh greens, go bad twice as fast. I am growing my own spinach, turnips, lettuce. We can only count on ourselves and the good LORD. |

Who knows how long the door remains unshut. |
