Hey guys I know there has been a lot of discussions on this topic here in the past.
I have been doing some youtubin and found that there are ALOT of people out there really putting it to the test. The reaction of the first video is priceless.
These are things you can do in your basement or garage!
making an electrolysis chamber to induct browns gas into your intake can improve mpg greatly and it burns CLEANER!
Well anyways Im looking for other people interested that have ideas as well. It seems a couple of simple ideas are to use stainless steel switchplates from home depot a cheap electrolyte such as baking powder or Lye, and a bubbler as a saftey precaution. watch the video below also here are youtube users that have some cool videos!
johnaarons
kyhydro
sirHOAX
bornman88
search these names and also search for HHO, browns gas, hydrogen, water engine! i am currently working on a crude chamber to see what configuration of the plates will produce the most browns gas.

Re: Alternative Fuels-Using WATER to convert engine to a hybrid DIY!!
I have a bubbler installed on my pickup truck.
I spent about $5 on parts, had everything else already laying around my garage.
So far, I've achieved about 10% better mileage, and 10% more horsepower. A definite 'feel it in the seat of the pants' improvement!
I'll take some pictures and post 'em up later. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Thanks would love to see some pics, the problem I was having is tryin to find ideas from others, they show it on their website but dont tell you anything as far as what electrolyte and all that, cause they are trying to patent it or make money off it, thats great but lets not forget what happened to Stanley Meyers!
as soon as I figure out which configuration is most efficient Im posting all I know for free! Its time we stopped walking backwards and try to progress!
Here ya go.
The first two are the "generator" bottle. I make HHO charged water with it in my garage.
The second two are the "bubbler bottle" that stays in the truck filled with the charged water.
Next step is to produce the HHO on demand in the vehichle, but I think I will have to create a "cheater circuit" to fool the O2 and MAF sensors at that point.
Yes, my truck really needs a bath ;) Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Re: Alternative Fuels-Using WATER to convert engine to a hybrid DIY!!
I haven't tried plate electrodes yet, because I have a huge roll of stainless steel wire that I scored somewhere years ago. (I'm a major pack rat, lol)
So far, it seems the biggest key to efficiency is getting the electrolyte level right, and the electrical current. About 1-1.25 amps, any more is just wasted as heat and cooks off the water faster.
ETA: I use baking soda and distilled water. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Hey Evil Twin
from what i have been researching make sure it is 316L stainles cause it makes the least amount of sludge. Also on youtube there are a few coild type systems not quite like yours but similar! Thanks for the pics looks like you put alot of work into it, no is that like acrylic you wraped the wire around?

Not sure what grade this wire is, but I have several hundred feet of it, so I'll keep using it until it's gone.
It's wrapped around some 1/4" plexiglass that I cut and epoxied together in an 'X' configuration. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I'm seriously studying HHO production to implement this in my vehicles.
I want to do this right, first time, to maximize HHO production.
Anyone have any insight into the usage of neutral plates for efficiency gains?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54956
Well most people are starting out by making "test cells" in their garage and using a battery charger, spare battery or even drill batteries to try different configurations.
It looks to me like the best ones are producing between 15-25 amps at 12 volts. So youll have to play with the thickness and spacing of your "plates" or coil. Also like I said 316L stainless seems to be the best metal to use in the electrolyte. Search the names I put in the first post and see what those guys have done. Some use a glass jar or even a large empty water filter for a chamber.
Most importantly have some type of satftey relief valve on the chamber itself, the goal is to keep the water from getting too hot which you can do by adjusting your amps (different size metals and spacing properties).
An HHO unit will NOT damage your vehicle. I agree with Evil Twin some guys are selling a circuit board that you put inline with the O2 sensors as you have to fool them so you dont run leaner. For some reason if you dont fool the sensors it dumps more gasoline into your enjectors. The circuit board seems real easy to install and has variable knob on it you can "fine tune"
Lastly another thing you need to put in is a bubbler see Evil Twins pics or go on youtube!!
THE THEORY!
What you are doing is charging the water in a way that your stainless electrodes seperate the Hydrgoen and Oxygen molecules from the water by electrolysis. Because you induce oxygen AND hydrogen this is known as Browns Gas, look it up and learn some stuff about it!
Most parts to build something like this are literally a few dollars at your home supply store!!
My chamber is going to be a 12 unch section of PVC pipe about 5-7 inches in dia. and I will cap each end with acrylic square ends. Im starting off with using stainless steel switch covers for your home until I can aquire some 316L.

WOW i just re read where you said 1 - 1 1/2 amps! excellent alot of guys on the net are saying 15-25 amps usually keps the water at about 110 degrees. Thats great!
Hey ALSO just curious what is the coffee can by your alternator for?

I expect a fully functioning, commercially available product by the end of August (2008). The retail price will be $199 plus s/h. Complete instructions on installation so a "handyman" or your average auto-mechanic at pep-boys, etc.. can do it for a nominal charge.

Yep, the Brown's gas introduces more oxygen to the combustion cycle, so there's more o2 in your exhaust, which the computer interprets as your engine running lean. It compensates by pumping more fuel.
I believe that a marine/boating supply store would be a possible source for stainless wire. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

More current might be better with the plate systems, I dunno. With the setup I'm using, I don't seem to get any more prodution with more current beyond right at 1.25 amps, just more heat. One of the factors that I believe contributes to the improved mileage and power is the cooling effect of the vapor in the intake manifold.
An old drag racer's trick is to cover their intake manifolds with ice just before a run to get it as cool as possible.
The 'coffee can' is part of the factory emmissions controls. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I have been considering something like that. The biggest problem is designing a 'universal fit' system. Obviously, there's plenty of room in the engine compartment of my truck, but some of today's compact cars have virtually no extra space under the hood. I've gone from 18 mpg to 21 mpg in my V8, 4500 pound truck, for the cost of a few dollars and a couple hours tinkering in the garage. It's well worth the effort at $3.50 per gallon! I am TOTALLY interested in this.
Alas, but I'm merely a chick who has NO mechanical inclinations whatsoever, and my boyfriend really doesn't know anything about this stuff either. Plus he's the type who when he gets mad, he starts breaking things, so I really wouldn't want him working on my car AT ALL! He'd probably smash my engine in anger, lol.
Right now I only drive my car one day a week, so gas isn't too much of a problem for me. But next month I'll be moving halfway across the country to Illinois, and I for sure won't be able to walk to work anymore. I know i'll be driving my car WAY more often. I'm dreading this and really getting stressed out over how much more money I'll be spending on transportation and gas really soon.
I would be willing to pay someone to convert my car like this.
Any takers?
