i would agree that it is a spiritual program, it has to be, but i know people of every religion, and agnostics, my higher power is the group, that is all i can handle for the time being, and i pray to something, but it is the mere fact that i get on my knees and give thanks , that is important

Rather insane to transfer dependence from one drug to another. Yet, the alcoholic does suffer from the insanity of alcoholism; that desperate attempt to control his drinking/drugging/fucking/eating, thinking "This Time It Will Be Different!" It never is; not for an alcoholic. The alcoholic is unable at certain times to remember why he/she wants to not drink/drug/fuck/eat, so they take that first drink...

Lots of people who go to AA are not really convicted/believe that they are alcholic. Most are pretty damn sure they can find some way on their own to beat their problem. If they just had.... The right job, right woman/man, enough money, people's respect & acclaim... they would be alright and not have to drink.

Most never hit bottom. They are unwilling to go to any lengths for victory over alcohol.

Plenty of people rationalize that because they haven't taken a drink in 15yrs, but have done pot/pills etc, that they are "sober".

Just not drinking is not enough! The alcohol or other substance/behaviour is just a symptom of alienation from God. Only by being brought into an active Relationship With God can the alcoholic ever rely on and take confidence that he/she has RECOVERED from alcoholism.

RECOVERY does not mean, "Now I can drink successfully!"
Nope. RECOVERY means being restored to sanity and able to remember why you don't want to take that first drink...

If you are an alcoholic, operating without God in your life, it may be 5, 10, 20 years, but you will drink again. Only God can cure the Spiritual Disease of alcoholism.

I have 24+ years as a Recovered alcoholic.
God restored me to sanity when I gave HIM my life.
I did not give HIM my life to "get good", "get religion", or "please someone else". I gave him my life because I knew I was at the end of the road very soon and that I needed HIM to Enable me to quit drinking. What I could not imagine was everything else HE has Given me in the ensuing days.

I don't care what any "scientist" says about AA or God.
I can give you straight and honest witness that when God is sought, HE can and will save you, if you are honest with yourself and 100% sincerely motivated.
