Typically, a blue dot or some other reflective blue marker is a signal to the fire department that there's a fire hydrant across the street. If you have a fire hydrant within 20-40 feet of your driveway, that's probably the answer. Quite often, the city or county will place a blue marker in the pavement, but a lot of neighborhoods are just going with the dot, since it's cheaper. [ link to www.firehydrant.org] We have a fire hydrant within 10 feet of our drive way, And the dot is blue. The only one in the neighborhood that is blue, but will check other ones now.
