Not much details.

They said 5 explosions occured in a crowded tourist area.

JAIPUR, India: Indian police say at least six people were killed and 20 others wounded in five bomb blasts that ripped through the historic city of Jaipur.

A.K. Jain, a top police official in Jaipur, said Tuesday's explosions took place in markets and several other crowded areas. The region, Rajasthan, is dotted with palaces and ancient cities that draw hundreds of thousands of Indian and foreign tourists every year.

Rajasthan's police chief, A.S. Gill, was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India news agency that the blasts were "obviously a terror attack."

India: Bomb blasts rip through Jaipur market

A series of bomb blasts have ripped through crowded market areas in the Indian city of Jaipur, killing up to 35 people and injuring dozens more.

Police said five explosions were heard within minutes of each other in the northwestern city, which is popular with Indian and foreign tourists.

Amorjot Singh Gill, Rajasthan's police chief, said the blasts were "obviously a terror attack."

Emergency services were rushing to the scenes of the blasts in the crowded old city, but the extent of the casualties was not immediately clear.

One witness said at least 25 bodies had been taken to hospital in Jaipur, about 260 kilometres from New Delhi, while NDTV television reported up to 35 people had been killed.

One explosion occurred near a temple, where cycles and rickshaws were seen lying in a mangled heap.

Jaipur, also known as the pink city owing to its pink stucco buildings, is the capital of Rajasthan state and has a population of approximately 2.7 million.

iamwith

How 'bout you go meditate some more on the European Grip, m'kay?

India has historically been at the receiving end of the most terrorist attacks of any country in the world before we invaded Iraq (now Iraq holds the crown), and India has been battling with domestic and foreign terrorism long before we have. Kashmiri insurgents in the NE, Maoist insurgencies in the NE, Naxalites (more Maoists I believe) in Andhra Pradesh, occasional incidents invovling Tamilians in the South, and sprinkled with ocassional Kashmiri-sympathist Muslim violence all over. If it invovles Muslim extremists, than you'll here India holding the ISI accountable (a likely possibility now that Musharraf has seen his hold on power slip away).

It is estimated somehwere between 30k-60k people have died as a result of insurgency violence in J&K alone over the last quarter century. However, such an atttack on such a popular tourist destination as Jaipur is definitely more along the lines of the terrorist attacks that have taken place in metros like DElhi or Mumbai...

IMO, you should spend less time snappin' one off and more time rawkin the Google.

I heard on that cnnlive feed while it was up that this is the tenth aniversery of Indias first nuclear test; or something like that.

Anyone care to elaborate on that or confirm that for me?

If this is true I dont think it is a coincidence.

Terrorist on bikes? Not suicidal terrorists? It sounds to me like this may have been internal elements infuenced by Pakastani muslim extremeist.
