I thought it would be 2007... and before that I was convinced it was 2006...

So really, as much as it seems it's coming real-soon-now, I wouldn't bet on it. We may never get the dramatic crash that changes everything in a week. It could very well be a slow decline, exactly like we're experiencing now. Creeping inflation, falling home values, rising unemployment ... like a stew that's always simmering but never boiling.

first the power will go, and we'll all wonder what's going on, then over the following few days, we'll all get our arses handed to us, one by one.

Not going to happen. Remember, just because you doom and gloomers WANT situation X because you think it'll be fun doesn't mean its going to happen. You just have delusions of grandeur.
