Do you think America is headed for soup lines again? Who's worried...
Our Think Tank session is pondering the question of what's going to happen when things get worse.
The Government is ready to haul off the anarchist but not to open food lines. They think the
churches and community centers should handle that first when the crash hits.
Are people just panicking or is this a legitimate worry?
Any ideas are helpful because I need to pass my assessment in by Friday.

Don't count of FEMA or the Government to come to your rescue.
Relief groups should be maxed out.
Will you lend a helping hand to your neighbor?
Plan to be in walking distance as the price of gas will be out of range or rationed.

Or will you be forced to defend your home?

Only if people do not wake up. The vast majority of people in this country live moral lives. It's the ones, like who I was in my teen and early 20's who live without morals that become the danger to the rest of us.

I read about this second grade school girl trapped in rubble for 2 days. And I thought, you know when I was the young studmuffin running around screwing who ever I wanted when ever I wanted, living life as a hedonist. I was reason that tragedy, disaster, and suffering strike. I was the reason that second grade school girls get trapped underneath rubble for 2 days. If Americans will ever be going to soup lines, the way I lived my life before I made my choice that would cause me to be the reason why other people suffer.

Many people are not worried who should be. People have told me that if economy does collapse, not to worry because we will all be living in the streets together.

I don't have my house paid off. People who have no debt, and no mortgage are in the best shape.

People should seriously look at their spending habits and make adjustments now.

Can't walk to work. Yes, I will help the two older ladies next door.

At the very least, people should prepare for a Katrina type event by having fully stocked pantry, and at least 10 gallons of water in their home.

Great idea to have heirloom seeds.

Don't panic, just prepare. Things may ride along for years or collapse tomorrow.

People will be huntin' and eatin' each other before it's through. The only ones who'll survive will be those who can live like the mountain man. We'll look down on the cities and watch columns of putrid smoke rising, day after day, until only rats and buzzards and feral dogs are roaming where people once lived and worked and concerned themselves with silly things, thinking blindly that nothing could ever change ...

I see a few in my neighborhood that I'd assist...
But 75% are assholes and there are 2 or 3 I'll kill within a few days of total collapse...

Energy food bars...seeds...water purification material all a must...

No internet would totally suck big time...I see withdrawals ahead...

I saw lines at a gas station that looked reminiscent of something out of the 1930s.

This thing is going to get a whole lot worse before getting better if it ever gets better.

The end of American empire seems like a great possibility.

So where you going to plant them considering the growing season is coming to an end?

Or the fact that by next growing season where you going to plant them while the rioters, looters, arsonists are out tramping around?

And your 10 gallons of water ran out like 4 or 6 months ago?

I'd rather starve
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague...Cicero

We're already there. The reason you don't see them is they use food stamps instead of soup lines. Currently, there are over 40 million Americans on food stamps.

If we didn't have food stamps like they didn't have during the great depression, it would look worse than the pictures you see of the great depression.

Yes

the problem is: there wont be any soup lines.

I believe that another Great Depression will be much different than the one in the 1930s.

This time the government will not help out because they cant and or wont.

We already have soup lines miles long in every state. The Gov has seen fit to to use food stamps instead to hide the numbers from the general public. Put everyone on food stamps in one line in each county, you will see what I mean.

This.

When the unemployment runs out for the folks there will be many millions more on food stamps. Many millions more will lose their homes.

You can't pay your mortgage or rent with food stamps.

You'll all have your wish for doom soon enough.

The economy took 25 years to come back from the Great depression and that was only because of a WORLD WAR.

Two and a half years into The Great Depression the government was saying that the economy will bounce back. They didn't even realize they were in the Great Depression.

Here we are about three years into this thing and I don't see any improvement at all.

I see things getting worse every fucking day!

It's probably safe to say we haven't hit bottom yet.

Soon local governments will need to cut back services much more than they have already. This means more layoffs, more UC benefits leading to more people on food stamps and more homes lost to foreclosure.

Enjoy the "good times" now while you can.
