Love this.

Crumbling world falls through my hands —
In my mouth taste bitter sands —
Grass is burning, pulse is slow —
Drip by drip my backwards growth —

crawl…

no one changes their life for no reason, it usually happens when you are so fucking miserable you can't stand it one more day.

yep, I have changed my life several times, re invented myself- when I was so miserable I couldn't stand it anymore.

change is internal first then external.

I just up and quit my job less than 6 weeks ago because I couldn't stand it anymore. Then I took a week off from everything and then starting looking for a work at home job. I kinda freaked when nothing was coming thru right away but it did. Now I am working at home making 3 times as much money in my pajamas until I decide I want to get dressed.

It's possible but you have to make it happen. There is no life changing fairy god mother that will come to you and tap you with a wand. Or maybe there is.... I just never saw her.

DO IT!

Wait it out, OP, I think what you are truly missing is god in your life, in whatever form benefits you most. I am committed to no religion, but believe me, if I was working in Dunkin Donuts, I would be content.

Your children one day will move away from home. You will have a retired life to live with your wife, and all the time in the world to follow god to your heart's content.

You should start preparing now, by meditating, and clearing your mind and having some alone time with just your thoughts, and start to think about what brings you joyous, and passionate. Do you want to be a dad who, your kids grow up and always wonder why he was sad, and downtrodden, versus the dad whom is always in joyous spirits. I think that is a sense of god which will ultimately rub off on your children.

It is not so linear, my family are athiests, yet I am the polar opposite. So I apologize if I have it wrong.

My suggestions are so simple, almost cliches, but make me happy that god made all the answers in life so easy. I think humans are daunted by how easy it is and might overthink things. Maybe the best way to find god, OP, is to start some memory recall exercises, and remember as much as you possibly can about your childhood.
