FLYS! How do I get rid of dozens of flys in my house?!
Quote

I put up those fly strip hanging things in the kitchen, dining room and living room ..
and they don't work for shit!
I'm not into bug spray but this is ridiculous... I'm ready for the BIG GUNS of fly killers.

Before I go to the store, what is the best thing to use to kill flys without stinking up the house with bug spray?

Hair spray makes a mess on the walls... and besides, I ran out.

WHAT ELSE???

Try cleaning your house. Take out the garbage. Bury the dead bodies that are cluttering up your living room.

Re: FLYS! How do I get rid of dozens of flys in my house?!Quote

clean the place up
take the garbage out everyday
don't leave food or compost exposed
find out what they're attracted to
find out where they're coming in from outside such as a restraunt dumpster

clean floors and countertops with vinegar
put screens in the windows
check for decaying or rotting organic matter and get rid of it

the flypapers will work after a few ays if you put them where the flies congregate such as near the waste basket

clean out the kitty box
smudge, it doesnt kill them but settles them down
they're in there because they're finding something to feed on so you have to find out what that is

Turn off the lights in the house. Open your window shades. The lit windows will attract the flies so you can kill them.
When swatting flies - remember they take off backwards for a split second. Aim accordingly.

There is always the obvious - keep doors closed and window screens fixed.

Get a dog - Mine thinks flies are personal toys. He knocks furniture over trying to get them. So funny. Caught him jumping up and down on my bed and snorting. A fly was straffing him. He was having a ball. Silly dog.

Actually, if you hang plastic baggies filled with water on strings it somehow scares them away....I'm serious, it really works.

And how do you know hairspray messes up the walls? Wait, lemme guess....you're fucking retarded?

Look at it as a blessing from god. Catch the things and feed them to your kids. Its a great protein source. With the price of food going up you'll be glad those flys chose your house to hang out in.

Before you go to bed, fill your sink with hot soapy water.
The flies get caught in the water and can't get out.

The light suggestion is a good one. Flies go in a room that is lit. That's how I get the pesky ones out of my bedroom at night. Turn on a light outside your room and they fly out, then shut the door.

For the whole house, hmmm...

Well, you can try the same concept. Maybe at night, turn off every light in the house except for a bright porch light and leave the door open for 5 min. They'll go towards the light.

Ok this is gonna sound very weird but I am not busting your chops on this. I was at a church retreat a few weeks ago and there were these ziploc bags 3/4 filled with water thumbtacked and duct taped over the entry doors to the cafeteria.

My curiosity got the better of me and I asked the women what they were for. She said that it is a home remedy to deter flies from coming in. I am not kidding! Something about the reflection of the water against their eyes, or making them look bigger...anyway she said that one or two might get in occasionally but it had helped immeasurably.

It doesn't cost anything so I'd say..try it! You might like it!

Guaranteed to work removal. Obtain a can of Raid flying insect spray. Start at the farthest point from your door turn the lights of in that room and close the door to a crack. The lights must be left on in the rest of the house leading to the door. (note this will only work during daylight) now room by room spray a small shot of spray working your way to the door and turning the lights off as you go. The fly's will fly to the light instantly to avoid the spray.
