having a REALLY strange car problem
Quote

ok... i have a suzuki reno 2006 and it seems to have a problem with the gas. i dont make many long trips, at all. like 5 mins here and there... work is just 5 mins away. thats it. i will get an ENTIRE tank of gas and by the end of that week its nearing empty. ive been keeping it at about halfway now, its just getting ridiculous.
but, the other odd thing is.. once i do get gas.. and start the car back up it takes about ten mins for it to actually show up what was filled on the gas meter! wtf is that? could this actually just be the meter being fucked up and not guzzling gas afterall?
ive never let it run completely empty, obviously, so i dont know how accurate this thing is.

also, the car has trouble starting up at times. it just wont start up unless i try a few times and my dad had to jump the car a few times already.

also, sometimes when starting it up, the muffler or something makes a weird 'farting' like group of sounds.
so, i'll turn it off and restart and it'll be fine.

what could all this be? anyone else have this car and have the same issues?

I'll take a stab in the dark and say it's your oxygen sensor.

That's only one of many things it could be.

Take it to a garage that you trust and have them diagnose the problem. Shouldn't take more than a hour if the mechanic is any good.

By putting this off you're throwing away your money to the a-rabs... why would you want to do that?

I think your problem is that you purchased a suzuki automobile. Their bikes are great but the cars suck ass.

Does that mean the OP's problem may be the fuel injector?

Look at the place on the dash that shows how many miles are on the car. Is there anoter meter that you can reset to measure trips?

If so fill the car car up and reset the trip meter to zero. Then see how many miles you get until you are about on empty. If you know how many gallons your gas tank holds then you can get an idea about how many miles to a gallon you are getting.

Another thing make sure you have a locking gas tank cap. At the price of gas now people are stealing gas.

As far as it not starting. If the battery is low and its not turning the motor over good then you either have a bad battery or the alternator or generator is not charging the battery and has to be replaced.

Same crap was going on with my Dodge truck, oxygen sensor was bad and had a small hole in my muffler, battery cables were no good(replaced them).

About a month ago someone took a full tank of my gas, went ta Auto Zone and they found the right size locking gas caps for both Car and Truck.

You probably drove through an area that had heavy chemtrail spraying. Chemtrails affect electronics and fuel ignition in mysterious ways. Very difficult to remove the residue. I suggest getting a new car.

Re: having a REALLY strange car problemQuote

find out how big you gas tank is - Write down how many gallons of gas you put in it and the milage at that time. and where your needle was. ( basically keep a log for about 5 fill ups)

this will give you a good indication of your MPG

If they use a float ( like the old toilets) in the gas tank to sense if it's full, it could have a hole in it. That would cause the delay in it rising up.

One of the weirdest car problems my friend experinced was that the car kept back firing up through the caurberator lon story short - the cadelitic converter was bad.

there's got a be a mechanic here at GLP to inlighten you.

Re: having a REALLY strange car problemQuote

Are you having to buy an ethanol blend of gas? Mileage is greatly reduced when using ethanol blends, and the crap clogs up the system.

The OS (oxygen sensor) might not accomodate ethanol blends.

Run a good gas additive thru a tankful of gas and see if that "cleans" your system. We are in the DFW metroplex, so we use RxP(TM).
