Look at the movie Bye Bye Birdie very carefully and watch for the British character named Dr Paisley, sent to the USA to observe experiments in popular culture. that movie is on TCM this week. |

Thanks OP. It is not the teacher before you that manifests what you perceive as an awakening, but the awakening within you that manifests what you perceive as a teacher. The "LA version" of Hippies consisted of the commercialization of the Hippie, which of course, killed the movement. In fact the "death of the hippie" was noted shortly thereafter, back in San Francisco. |

I'm only just now on part 2 and my mind is already going a bajillion miles a minute. I was raised by a hippie mom who went to anti-nuke rallies in the late 70's and early 80's as the last expression of her hippieness before "selling out" to the neo-conservative movement (which I later found out was started by the same 50's era liberals that got the hippie movement going in the mainstream in the first place...people like Irving Kristol and father of the anti-psychiatry movement, psychiatrist R.D. Laing). To make the story weirder...I grew up on Frank Zappa and Janis Joplin and the Doors, and later in life I went into the military intelligence community (where I still keep a little more than one foot in even though I'm "out.") Jim Morrison and Frank Zappa were 2 of my biggest influences in my youth and I've never been the kind of music fan to look up every detail on every musician I like....in short, I had no idea of Frank Zappa's mil-intel connections until now. I always thought to myself that I had been kind of a "sell out" by following my dreams of getting into intelligence because that's what I grew up thinking I was supposed to think (Grow up on the "left", going to the "right" is "selling out") but now that I read this mind mind is just aflitter with now ten bajillion questions. One of which is; "Was I programmed to go into the intelligence community?" |

Will get to rest... Awesome, addictive stuff. 'Let’s suppose, hypothetically speaking, that you are the young man in the photo at the top of this post, and you have recently arrived in Laurel Canyon and now find yourself fronting a band that is on the verge of taking the country by storm. Just a mile or so down Laurel Canyon Boulevard from you lives another guy who also recently arrived in Laurel Canyon, and who also happens to front a band on the verge of stardom. He happens to be married to a girl that you attended kindergarten with, and her dad, like yours, was involved in atomic weapons research and testing (Admiral George Morrison for a time did classified work at White Sands). Her husband’s dad, meanwhile, is involved in another type of WMD research: chemical warfare. This other guy’s business partner/manager is a spooky ex-Marine who just happens to have a cousin who, bizarrely enough, also fronts a rock band on the verge of superstardom. And this third rock-star-on-the-rise also happens to live in Laurel Canyon, just a mile or two from your house. Just down a couple of other streets, also within walking distance of your home, live two other kids who – wouldn’t you know it? – also happen to front a new rock band. These two kids happened to attend the same Alexandria, Virginia high school that you attended, and one of them also attended Annapolis, just like your dad did, and just like your kindergarten friend’s dad did. Though almost all of you hail from (or spent a substantial portion of your childhood in) the Washington, D.C. area, you now find yourselves on the opposite side of the country, in an isolated canyon high above the city of Los Angeles, where you are all clustered around a secret military installation. Given his background in research on atomic weapons, your father is probably familiar to some extent with the existence and operations of Lookout Mountain Laboratory, as is the father of your kindergarten friend, and probably the fathers of a few other Laurel Canyon figures as well. My question here, I guess, is this: what do you suppose the odds are that all of that just came together purely by chance?' |

I did not know this, but both Morrison, and Zappa, were sons to men heavily involved in the war machine, and their sons helped to inspire the movement that helped curtail their activities. Quoting: Want2knowyactually they derailed it. the antiwar movement was a serious political force, but got hijacked by undercover "freaks", which ridiculed and minimilised the movement. as yoko derailed john, as Dave writes somewhere: : "Yes John, do protest against the war..from inside a bag!" and John, instead of showing his face and atracting millions to his political statement, hid in a bag and looked like an "artistic lunatic" and the very different beatles phases...and their "british invasion" only three months after jfk's murder...to divert the american public... it connects with adorno rewriting classical tunes for the beatles in order to control the masses... big shocker for many a but great read! As all good ideas and ideals are : Sabotaged from the inside. Remember - start any local club or organization... say one that wants to shed light on the local police and provide oversite ... or one that wants to provide oversite of the local school board . Within days your group or organization will be infiltrated. And if it has a goal that benefits the community, it will be derailed. Or there will (down the line) be a big embarassing situation which will derail your group. Or, you could even find yourself set up as a likely criminal. The ways of those in power do not really change. 'When Plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.' Frederic Bastiat, 'The Law' 1850 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." JohnSwinton, 1830-1901, Former chief-of-staff New York Times ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The bold effort the present bank has made to control the Government, the distress it has wantonly produced ... are but premonitions of the fate that awaits the American People should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution (The Bank of the United States), or the establishment of another like it." Andrew Jackson (December 2, 1834) |

The odds are about as good as the odds that the banksters will awake Monday AM and say: "We are sorry. We were wrong! Interest is immoral and unethical. Still I await the next installment. I did end up buying a book of his regarding MK Ultra which was very good called Programmed to Kill. Anyway, a bit of a disappointment but I still love Dave and his story. |
