Was Leonardo da Vinci a woman???
Was Leonardo da Vinci actually a woman disguised as a man?

Is the Mona Lisa a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci?

"Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa on a piece of pine wood in the year 1506.
Never in the history of Art has one painting been so admired. This is due largely to the enigmatic smile, which has caused much speculation. He recorded in his notebooks the records of model sittings; but nowhere can be found any records of the Mona Lisa model sitting. Why is that? Who posed for him? Dr. Lillian Schwartz of Bell Labs suggests that Leonardo painted himself, and was able to support her theory by analyzing the facial features of Leonardo's face and that of the famous painting, She digitized both the self-portrait of the artist and the Mona Lisa. She flipped the self portrait and merged the two images together using a computer. She noticed the features of the face aligned perfectly!"

Is it possible that the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci, not dressed as a woman but perhaps Leonardo da Vinci WAS a woman.

The name Mona Lisa derived of AMON L'ISA (male god/female god) is a clue.

The almost perfect match of the Mona Lisa with the male self portrait.

Romantically linked to males. Very private.

A poor talented child not able to succeeded in 1400's as a female, the father disguised her as a male.

Just a thought.

Perhaps Leonardo was transgendered, or had BOTH genders. A hermaphrodite. It really makes a lot of sense, seeing as how the Mona Lisa is rumored to be a self-portrait.

However, it could be that DaVinci (as brilliant as he was) realized that humans are endowed with both genders (mind-wise). Cuz you know that's true, dontcha? The brain has two hemispheres, one male and one female. The left brain is male, and the right brain is female. EVERYTHING is male AND female.

On the contrary the Mona Lisa is quite beautiful.

What would you do if you were from a poor family in the 1400's and you recognized incredible talent in a female child? The only way for that child to be taken seriously would be to disguise her as a man.

I think you have a good premise for a historical fiction book.
Write it and make a million. Book rights, screenplay. Who would you pick to play LDV? Gwenyth Paltrow did a good job of imitating a man in Shakespeare in love.

as for female artists during that time period, has anyone here heard of Artemesia?

Just take a look, it's a 97% match.

Is it really that difficult to believe a woman would disguise herself as a man, during times of suppression? It's interesting that many will accept that the Mona Lisa is a self-portrait of a man dressed as a woman, but have a hard time accepting a woman dressing as a man. Especially interesting when the woman has strong motivation for doing so.

Re: Was Leonardo da Vinci a woman???
It is far more likely that he painted himself as a woman than actually being a woman and hiding it from everyone for years and nobody ever found out.

I don't beleive he could hide his penis or lack of in the public restrooms and bath houses.

Even by today's standards, hair plugs look like shit, so I doubt he could make a beard that fooled everyone.

He was a brilliant artist, why couldn't he have painted his face with female features. And why did off his eyebrows? To make his beard?

He actually spent a great deal of time alone cutting up, drawing dead bodies. My guess is that he created his disguise with the hair of the bodies.

Once again we can accept that he is a genius, a great artist, great inventor, hundreds of years ahead of his time - but incapable of creating a disguise?

I absolutely do believe it's Da Vinci in drag and believe he was homosexual. I think that is the reason for the mysterious smile. He also had dyslexia, so I believe the name is spelled backwards.

Also, The Last Supper and Virgin of the Rocks paintings are very interesting to me. There are TWINS in both NOT male and female. Mary is standing off to the right holding an invisible baby. It was there once.

There is a ring of truth to this thread....I have
been a student of Art since I was in my teens--
and, NO I am not "transgendered!" lol!

I can really relate to the theory that DaVinci may
have been a female posing as a male just to get herself
accepted by the Art community....There were women
who dressed as male soldiers to be able to fight
for their country even in U.S.'s Civil War of 1860's.
So....It really isn't that far-fetched to me.....
Even the transgender theory isn't so far "out-there"
now, with all the research being done of the true
numbers of children born now with "ambigous genitalia"
which is what trangender is called in medical circles!

The standard proceedure as I understand it from
documentaries done on several adult males who were
"altered" as babies and ended up being gay....was
to assign the sexuality as soon as possible to
avoide psychological damage later one. Of course,
that kind of advanced surgical procedure wasn't
even imagined in the 1500's....so Davinci if he
was transgendered would have had to "live with it"
all of his life--that would certainly be a huge
secret to carry.

People are so accepting these days of transgenders
--famous people like Jamie Lee Curtis, the Hollywood
actress, came out and revealed this unusual fact
about herself. Doesn't look like she suffered much
psychological damage and was ble to rise in the ranks
of excellent acresses dispite her early handicap.

If you find Davinci as a topic interesting....
may I invite you to look into the current thread
on GLP "Leonardo Da vinci THE LAST SUPPER CODE -
Cracked!" began by Abhie--now hosted by SilentlyKnowing.

It is an interesting new DISCOVERY that is about
to go through the rigors of Peer Review and book
publishing that suggests that Leonardo Da vinci
was a MASTER at placing "codes" and "clues" within
the body of his paintings. (Check out the movie
"The Da vinci Code" after the book by the same
title--Dan Brown!)
Da vinci was either an incredibly
"in-tune" psychic as well as an incredible ARTIST/
inventor...or he had some kind of information that
would have been way way in advance of technology
and Infra-red Deep Space Photography. The half
of my brain that is female would like to see
Da vinci proven a "REMOTE VIEWER"--able to project
his/her vision even into worlds far beyond the
Galaxy in which he/she was born into!

He could look down at the Nile Delta Region of Egypt to
paint perfectly the topography of the Delta and
the curves and bends of the Nile River--He could
find inspiration in the incredible beauty of the
Trapezium region of the Orion Nebula...Everything
would fit the puzzle then...
But that's over on our "Leonardo thread" if you
want to check it out!
Thanks to OP for posting this thread...it took
alot of courage to provide this insight and I am
sure you took flack for it!
LET'S LIFT A TALL ONE TO LEONARDO!
Cheers!

Well, not that this is proof that you are wrong exactly, but the GIF on the site you linked that morphs between the two faces clearly shows them being entirely different. Going at least by the two pictures and comparing them the two look nothing alike.
