Before I date a gal, I often ask "Do you know how to disappear?" and after they reply I tell them "If I catch you fucking around you will disappear"

This helps weed out the cheaters usually, but it's about 85% useful.

Needless to say, there have been disappearances.

Walked in on a boyfriend mid thrust. He was white collar, I was blue collar, after I cleared the room by saying, "You're got 90 seceonds and then I'm going to cause the biggest scene you're ever seen." As a white-bread, white collar guy, he didn't like scenes. The chick grabbed her clothes and ran into the bathroom, after she left, he explained to me that it was business. I stuck around a few weeks after that, but it was never the same, I mean the white collar guy with all his CDs, IRAs and etc, saw it as business, I saw something else, no way it could work.

Twice. Once in a long-term exclusive relationship - almost engaged. The second time was in a non-exclusive relationship but we had agreement to tell the other so that the other could make the decision to leave or not He saw several someones over six months before I found out.

Both times I left without a trace. No big fight, no fuss, not many words even. The first one got down on his knees and cried for my forgiveness. The second one still shows up at my door to talk but I tell him there is nothing to talk about and there isn't.

Once someone lies to me I don't give them a second chance. The shame is that it takes a long time to get back to trusting other people now.

It sucks. Sometimes I wish I were the cheater and it would be easier. But I'm faithful to a fault I guess. I just think it important in a relationship no matter what the temptations are. It's a matter of respect.

I have been cheated on numerous times over the years, to the point where I almost expected it as standard male behavior. It's a dandy way to end a relationship, although dramatic. I've had some pretty big blow-ups over it, you would have been scared :)

However, there was one guy who cheated two different times, with different women, and both times he had been drinking. Him I kept. We have been together for almost ten years now, and I forgave him because (1) he came straight to me with a tearful confession both times, sobbing and apologizing for his mistake, and (2) I can't seem to find a way to stop loving this guy!

So yes, it can work out, and I trust him more than anyone because he has always been straight up honest with me in every way, even when it was so hard to be. He isn't trying to be with anyone else, and I truly feel in my heart that these were isolated incidents. If I felt otherwise I would probably have to find a way out.

It works out for a little while, maybe even a few years.
But ultimately, it doesn't work out.
There are deep seated reasons why someone cheats.
For one, they aren't with you for the right reasons, or rather the same reasons as the non-cheater.
And two, it's ultimately not your problem, it will be theirs.

Be ready to move on to healthy relationships & happiness.

Re: Have you ever been cheated on?Quote

My exhusband cheated on me. We had a daughter together. she was one year old at the time. For the sake of her, I took him back and it lasted 1 year and 3 months and wouldn't you know, not only did he cheat again, but with the same person. (this girl wasn't even pretty in the least little bit, which still shocks me to this day)

Anyways, the problem is, when you take them back, you can't trust them because the trust is long gone. So, whether you mean to or not, everytime they leave the house, you find yourself questioning them over and over. Trust me, its a horrible way to live. I know I put my ex through pure hell, but what can I say, I didn't trust him.

So, my advice to you is this...I'm not saying that it will never work again, because maybe counseling does help, I wouldn't know. But, it is a horrible way to live once the trust is gone.

To be honest, my questioning him all the time or shall I say "having to question him because I didn't believe him" was a horrible way to live for the both of us.

I wouldn't advise it.

My brother cheated with a girl from his office for six months. When the wife found out, she thought about it for a few weeks then left, moving to her mother's house.

8 years later, she changed jobs. She met someone, cheated her ass off and moved in with him a year later. I could see it but bro was in denial until she moved in with the new boyfriend.

Damn near killed him. True he had it comming, but after eight years he thought she was over it. Not.

Leave, you will both be better off.

Yes, so I immediately hooked up with her best friend, who ironically was hot as hell, and WAYYYY better than the original girl ever was. It's funny how these things work out, and even though at first I was quite pissed off and somewhat hurt, it all worked out far better than I could have ever imagined, (I almost married her friend) As they say, God never closes one door without opening another.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 435640

i don't think so. i look at dirty pictures and i'm a female and have never once thought it was cheating. i even like looking at other females, i think they are sexy and i consider myself hetero. i've even shown my boyfriends better porn than the crap they had and we looked at it together and i enjoyed watching him get horny over it with me.

every boyfriend i ever had cheated on me. i'm not sure if that's cuz i attract those kinds of guys, or men are just not capable of keeping it in their pants. my belief is that these wonderful guys some women have that claim they would never cheat are just good at not getting caught.

and for the record, i've cheated too. mostly because for a long time i had no concept that my actions might hurt the other person and i figured, if they are gonna do it to me i'm gonna do it to them.

pretty jaded.

probably while i'm still single too.

Poor girl, I do feel sorry for you. It must just be the guys you attract. Heaps of guys would never cheat on their girlfriends, and vice-versa. Guess it depends on the social circles you move in, similiar morals, values, etc..

Re: Have you ever been cheated on?Quote

My 10 year marriage turned sour about year 5. He cheated and I forgave him because I was in love and had made our relationship into a mental fantasy. The cheating signals continued, but I did not want to know.

Then, I saw him undress a woman with his eyes, and I felt like a fool. It took me 2 years to stop loving him and plan my escape. When I left, he was shocked. He thought I would be his dedicated slave/servant forever. Leaving him was the best thing I ever did.

Unfortunately, after he lost his mommy he became a homeless drunk. Last I heard he was living in his car in the desert. His affairs are not as much fun without the devoted wife at home.

I like the single life . . .

I've been cheated on and am no longer with that person. I would never and have never cheated. Cheaters get to live with what they did for the rest of their lives, it haunts them years later. Cheaters also never trust anyone because of what they did. I researched it a lot and realized that most cheaters do it because of their own issues.
