There is a second edge to this particular sword of which you speak, and that is the relatively small group of people who can use that same battlefield cesspool to retrieve those highly embattled pieces of Truth floating among the turds.  And they're just starting to figure out that that second edge is far more dangerous to them than their hoped "advance" could have been in the other direction to which you are pointing.
