" Oil surged higher after Morgan Stanley analyst Ole Slorer predicted strong demand in Asia and tight supplies in the Western Hemisphere could drive prices to $150 by Independence Day, when millions of Americans take to the roads."
That and the Israelis talking about the necessity of going to war with Iran in order to take out their nuclear reactors.
Oh and oil speculators being in an orgasmic frenzy to soak up this cash goldmine for all it's worth -- and screw the average American car driver with 5 dollar a gallon gas. |

Diesel is $4.99 today, regular gas is $4.29 - Seattle area.
Which is worse? A bike or a 'smart car' (from Europe?) America's roads are not built for either. You'll be taking your chances of being a big bug splattered on somebody's windshield or saying 'Oh, shit!' as they run over you. Wave as you go under.

Before you call people names try riding up and down the mountains where I live on curvy two lane roads with no shoulder on a bike without getting killed 30 miles to work and back. We don't have traffic jams here just people going about 60 on roads meant for 40. See how long you and your bike lasts and try wearing a suit to get to work in the 100 day temps. If you don't killed you will die from heat stroke. And you won't look pretty doing it.

I sure do get the mountain road thing. Those mountain roads, like in New Mexico are so thin that two cars can barely get by each other on a two lane highway at high elevations.
Motorcycles and bikes are dangerous almost anywhere because of the fools who insisted on Hummers and Suvs, and the big trucks.
No offense intended to any of you who drive these gas hogs, but didn't you learn anything from the 70's ?
We have to boycott OPEC. We have to demonstrate at oil company offices, and plants, to the point of closing them down. We have to demand the oil index futures speculators, and commodity index futures speculation markets be closed down, NOW !
If our Congress is unwilling to bring this under control for the good of the people they are supposed to represent, then we need to shut them down, and get real citizens in their seats to do what needs to be done.
This crap has to stop. The war won't be between countries. It will be the world's people against the oil producers.
WE OWN THE OIL ! Therefore, they either bring down the prices, or we shut them down, and run the oil companies ourselves. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 445214 6/6/2008 11:27 PM | | Re: TOTAL STOCK MARKET CRASH TODAY! - GAS PRICES UP $6 A BARREL!!!!! | Quote | Recession fears as US markets dive
The ongoing mortgage crisis is one of the factors
causing turmoil in the US economy [EPA]
US stocks have suffered their worst day for 15 months after the government said unemployment had risen by the biggest rate in more than 20 years.
Rocketing oil prices have also fuelled concerns that the US economy is facing 'stagflagation' - slow growth and high inflation accompanied by soaring oil prices.
Oil prices reached a $139 a barrel on Friday, fuelled by a weak dollar and tensions in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 394.64 points, or 3.13 per cent, to end Friday at 12,209.81.
Shares in General Electric and other major firms fell after a report showed unemployment rose in May to 5.5 per cent from 5 per cent, its highest level since October 2004.
Analysts say stagflation, last seen during the worldwide economic slump in the 1970's, could make it even more difficult to boost a sputtering economy.
"This is the worst economic environment," said Dave Rovelli, the managing director of Canaccord Adams, a New York equity trading firm.
"I don't see how this is not stagflation."
Jobless rate rises
The US reported on Friday that about 49,000 jobs had been lost, putting the current number of unemployed in the US at 8.5 million.
US markets have faced bouts of chaos as
fears of recession grow [AFP]
A total of 324,000 jobs have been lost in 2008 so far, the department said.
The figure surprised analysts, who had expected a more modest rise of 0.1 per cent.
The news comes at a time of ongoing financial turmoil in the US housing, credit and financial sectors.
The White House acknowledged that the number was "too high" but Scott Stanzel, the deputy press secretary, said it was still "lower than the average of the last three decades".
Analysts say the rate is expected to rise to six per cent or higher by next year.
The official unemployment rate, taken from a separate survey of households, includes workers who are actively seeking a job and can rise as jobless workers who had given up on looking for new work then begin searching again.
Recession fears
Continuing job losses have led some economists to say the US is in recession, although others have said far more jobs - 100,000 or more - are normally lost each month during a recession.
"For the average American there is not a debate that the economy is in a recession,'' Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Economy website, told the Associated Press news agency.
"That's because their net worth is lower, their purchasing power is lower and it is tough to find a job. If you lose a job, it is tough to get back in."
The US Federal Reserve and the Bush administration are hoping recent steep rate cuts by the central bank and the US government's $168bn stimulus package, which provides tax rebates and business tax breaks, would revive the US economy in the second half of this year.

 | | Re: TOTAL STOCK MARKET CRASH TODAY! - GAS PRICES UP $6 A BARREL!!!!! | Quote | I know this is a doom board and we must have the doom, but a little perspective doesn't hurt, either.
Here's the actual news: "Wall Street suffered its worst losses in more than two months." Gosh, two months! The Dow index lost 3.13% today. The bigger, broader and more relevant S&P 500 lost 3.09%.
Would you be losing your mind if you lost THREE PERCENT of your belongings today? Say, three socks out of 50 pairs? It's just not a doom number. Are more losses coming? Yes. Would even a 10% or 15% drop in the market averages spell doom? No.
This is an economic slowdown, and it could easily turn into a long recession like in the 1970s or very early 1980s or the regional recessions of the early 1990s. It could even turn into a "Great Depression," although that's less likely than a recession with stagflation, which is what the stagnant economic growth and inflation adds up to.
But the world didn't end any of *those* times, either. When bubbles burst, they take down a lot of speculators -- whether in real estate, agriculture commodities, metals or even oil when price isn't explained by fundamentals. There will be losses, and some people will hurt, but not really at the wealthy level. The hurt is mostly felt at the bottom, when people who live paycheck to paycheck lose their jobs.
Be safe, don't spend more than you have, grow a garden and live close to your work. If you've got some extra, invest in your 401k and a personal IRA. Those gas prices hurt a lot less when you've got an energy sector index fund or two in your mix. |

Senator Barack Obama's office has refused to deny that the Democratic nominee attended Bilderberg last night following reports that he and Hillary Clinton were present at "an event in Northern Virginia."
As we reported earlier today, Obama's press entourage were not informed of his secret meeting with Hillary Clinton in Northern Virginia until they were literally locked inside a plane that was taxiing down the runway on its way to Chicago.
Reporters were duped into believing that they were getting on a plane back to the campaign headquarters in Chicago with the presumptive nominee, while in reality Obama's motorcade instead sped off in secrecy to Northern Virginia, which is also the scene of this week's Bilderberg conference. The plane was stationed at Dulles International, which is less than a 20 minute drive from Chantilly Virginia as is shown below.

Bilderberg sleuth Jim Tucker called Obama's office today to ask if he had attended Bilderberg. A campaign spokeswoman refused to discuss the matter but would not deny that Obama had attended Bilderberg. |

The people of the United States own the oil under the federal reserve lands, and parks of the United States. That also includes oil found offshore within our waters. the oil companies supposedly recover and process it at our behest for our benefit at supposedly reasonble rates, kind of like a utility company.
Almost 100% of the rest of the oil under our soil is owned by regular people who get royalty checks usually monthly, mostly from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand depending on the well production.
How do I know this ? I worked in an oil company royalty & revenue department. I typed up the checks. I also ran the mud reports. I had files on every oil company in the country.
My brother is a geophysical draftsman for an oil company, with 35 years experience.
My dad was an oil company international accounts executive for almost 40 years.
I have seen 4 wells drilled on family land. Cheney in fact was working the mud hut on one of them in his early days with Schlumberge/Halliburton. I felt the ground shake under my feet when they hit natural gas.
Two friends of mine are from families, directly, who own major oil companies.
A cousin works in finding and transport of oil.
My godfather has a multi million dollar oil equipment recovery company.
375101, you might want to think, or at least ask questions before you speak. |

"The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost 395 points, or 3.1%, its biggest one-day decline on both a point and percentage basis since February of 2007, at the start of the subprime mortgage crisis."
Then there's this:
"The unemployment rate shot up to 5.5% in May from 5.0% in April, the government reported, marking the biggest one-month surge in over 20 years."
Did you get that? Biggest surge in **20 YEARS**.
And finally:
"The [oil] increase was the biggest single-day price gain since record-keeping began in 1983 - taking out the previous session's record."
Capiche? Biggest gain EVER.

They are milking us for everything we got, blatently.
The question you guys need to be asking is.. Why?
Whats around the cornor.. whats going to happen that will make all this government corruption seem like small fry?
Dont be so naive to think that they would expose all this corruption, rape us for money through oil and food and just expect us to forgive them.
Think again, they are doing this because something is going to happen and all will be forgotten.
And you can take that too the bank! or safer still, bury it in your back garden.

They're herding us to take anything they offer. This is not "the crash". You're going to see things get ugly - relatively fast (all this year). They are really going to put the screws to the people come next year. Like cattle to a slaughter between a rock and hard place we are going to be forced to take the lesser of two evils. They will have us right where they want us.
My guess it will be some type of economic screws. Follow the money. Yes, gas is going up and so will anything related to it. Think about it, transportation (duh), anything made of petroleum products (containers, pharmas, plastics of all kinds, etc.). This will not even address the rise in cost of goods across the board for a passing on of fuel prices to consumers. People will go in debt (they have started already) to pay for the essentials. Housing will not be considered an essential. Food, water, heat, etc. Basic survival. You will see crime escalate.
At that point people will cry out for someone to save them. But be forewarned it will come at a cost. I wouldn't put it past the PTB to reinstate debtors prison/work camps like the English had. It is going to be a whole new ball game. Or something like the North American Union. Basically, if you want price relief, jobs, etc. you're going to have give something up. Just wait until they legally, in broad daylight, go for the Constitution. It will probably be some sort of "amendment".
The sad thing is that it could have been prevented if people would stop thinking about just themselves and about the nation as a whole. It's just about ME, ME, ME.... and screw the other guy. What many JP6 don't get is that it will affect everyone and no one will spared, except the elite. We need to start thinking in terms of US, or we will get what we deserve. |

That is an excellent point!
Those most hurt by this will be the elderly and young children. People will cope, but not without someone paying a dear price. People will be blind sided by the cost. I only hope no unusually weird winter weather will make it worse. I would hate to see anyone lose their life because of a severe snow storm and an inability to pay for heat, or have some other heating source. |
