Get ready for dow 11000 and nasdaq 2000... if you haven't sold off everything except for your oil and natural gas trusts do so now.
This includes all bulk shippers like DRYS and others, sell them now.
Liquidated everything in my portfolio except for TELOZ, WHX, and other oil trusts this morning. |

Perhaps, perhaps not. I have long argued the ultimate test is if modern computer systems that run the stock markets, and associated mathematics, etc, can stop a run caused by the psychology of crowds.
Typically it is very bad to go into a weekend sharply down. Notice if that happens they break out the talking heads on the Sunday morning shows to pimp up the market and reassure Joe six pack.
To date it has worked very well.
However, in this economic climate, a 400-500 point Dow haircut on a Friday could be catastrophic next week.
Just sayin'.
One day it WILL happen, and then we will be able to ascertain if they have absolute control.
My bet is they do not.

The VIX, volatility index, is low, leaving plenty of room for downside. Bullishness indicators aren't super high, but they're high enough that a reversal could easily occur... the dow has just completed the right shoulder of a head shoulders pattern that dates back to 2006... 11000 dow is right there staring itself in the chart pattern.
Combined with recent economic data, I don't see how the market can hold up this summer. Really what does it matter if it does.. if they want Obama in office, a good crash won't hurt anything. |

June 6 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose more than $9 to a record as the dollar weakened after the U.S. unemployment rate grew the most in two decades and Morgan Stanley said prices may reach $150 within a month.
Oil may ``spike'' because ``Asia is taking an unprecedented share'' of Middle East exports, Morgan Stanley analyst Ole Slorer wrote. The dollar weakened against the euro after the unemployment rose to 5.5 percent, signaling the Federal Reserve may be reluctant to increase interest rates. Oil also rose after an Israeli minister said an attack on Iran may be necessary. (Italics added)
Oil is ``being used as a hedge by speculative buyers for the weakened dollar,'' said Gary Adams, vice chairman of oil and gas consulting at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Houston. `We are seeing that the price will continue to go up as investors look for alternatives.''
