I live in one of the poorest counties in South Kentucky and watching rural people who live way out in the country and only get one check a month trying to make it is making me sick to my stomach. Why are our gas prices the same as the national average gas price? Went food shopping today and prices were up again. These economic stimulus payments are quite simply money in the fuckheads' pockets just before they leave office. I think the entire Bush family can go fuck themselves, I see at least 4 generations of assholes with absolutly no morals whatsoever!!!!

I agree something big is coming, after all who needs all that money unless you are trying to buy your way to safety?
I imagine underground housing or trips into space are very expensive, not to mention all the food, booze, and whores you will need to sustain your self as a rich mutherfucker.
I can assume you are referring to something cosmic. Well I don't know about the Niburu new age alien stuff but certainly something cosmic may be it, something on a timed cycle that "those in the know" have privvy to, while the common citizen of this planet is left in the dark to survive whatever cometh.
Personally I think they are building bunkers and fortifying them to protect themselves from us the angry hoards who will be the slave labor to build "their" "new world"
The entire world will be broke.
What's coming is deliberate and evil. It's a POWER grab that once established will control the entire world.
That is even scarier than a cosmic disaster, and I must say reminds me of what is foretold in the Bible. WHY would they want to control the entire world? Do you think they believe it is "for the good of all"//? Many may have to die but Mankind will survive, that kind of sick reasoning>? They used that reasoning when they bombed Hiroshima. There are several reasons for my somewhat splenetic views.
The first is that, unlike many who are more interested in complaining about un-provable conspiracies, I have spent about a year reviewing as many aspects as I can regarding "peak oil". I consider King Hubbard almost prescient in his understanding of the mechanism leading to a general shortage, and I am convinced that we are already on the downhill slide for easily-exploitable petroleum.
Petro-demand is much higher, given the rapid industrialization of India and the PRC, than it was in the 1980's. To me, this means that the classic bell-shaped curve, when taking these demographics into consideration, becomes much steeper on the downhill side.
Oil for personal transportation is not the only problem, of course; my motorcycle gets 50 mi/gal, and both my wife and I could ride our bicycles to and from work and the stores. What is more of a concern, as I'm sure you're aware, is that the cost of fuel drives the cost of just about everything, given the fact that population centers are so far from food-producing regions that not having enough diesel fo transport food around would probably be responsible -- directly or indirectly -- for the starvation and eventual death of over 75 percent of Americans.
I can see several "spin-of" secnarios from this, each less pleasant that the other; and I would be glad to discuss them with you offline. Since you do not have an enhanced membership, I cannot send you a personal note, but if you'd like, feel free to e-mail me at duncankunz(at)cox(dot)net, Put "peak oil" in the subject field and we can take it from there.
But back to my original post: If you rely on petroleum for your basics (food, shelter, and water) there is a possibility (we each have our estimate as to the chances) that you would not be able to survive.
This is why I have purchased a rural property and will be converting my conventional grid-powered well to a PV system within six months. As I mentioned earlier, my task is made much easier by the fact that my wife and two grown children see the situation and have responded to it as I have done; if the situation requires it, there will be four of us rather than two.
And, of course, if my predictions are wrong (and I hope they are), we have a nice vacation place and a property to leave to my kids to develop should they choose to do so. |

Which is worse? A bike or a 'smart car' (from Europe?) America's roads are not built for either. You'll be taking your chances of being a big bug splattered on somebody's windshield or saying 'Oh, shit!' as they run over you. Wave as you go under.
If I can survive the crisis the airlines are having with fuel prices, I'll be very surprised.
Some folks have predicted $5.00 for regular gas by Labor Day. I'm thinking it's gonna happen much sooner.
Everyone's saying the same thing - WE ARE SCREWED!
Apparently, TPTB are very serious about population reduction.

Watch the fluctuations in the DOW.
If they become increasingly bigger, both up and down, then I believe this is a sign that control over the market is beginning to wane.
I have stated for quite some time that I do believe the economy is an absolute mess, however because of mechanisms in place it is doubtful if we will see a "crash" any time soon.
I will say this though, if the proxy wars behind the curtains are heating up, and a coordinated attack on the economy is implemented, then we could be in trouble.
If you want to be ahead of what is going on economically, then I recommend staying abreast of news emanating from the global theater, especially from the Asian continent. |

Based on your research, what are your thoughts on the viability of recovering domestic heavy oil. If you're putting it on the 'not cost-effective' side of the production balance sheet (and I assume you are from your comments), what do you think about cheap steam production of HO?
