Why do you want a scooter? what you REALLY want is a Bugatti Veyron. It utilises a quad-turbo W-16 engine, has a top speed of 450km/h, goes from 0-100km/h in 2.1 seconds and revving flat-out, will empty it's entire 90-odd litre fuel tank (premium) in 12.5 seconds.

Stay away from china scooters not sold by a shop. Try kymco or buddy scooters. Get a used 2 stroke 50cc scooter (kymco people) or other from 2005 or so. For $600 you can modify engine to 70cc and hit 50mph. Unmodified, with exhaust restriction removed scooter should go about 40mph. I picked up a 2003 kymco people 50cc scooter with 1960km on it for $1300 on craig's list (screaming deal). It was worth $2000+ at the time.

I bought a Genuine Scooter Buddy Pamplona 150... I love it. The second tank (you have to break the engine in) I got close to 90 mpg with varied driving conditions. The Buddy 125 is cheaper, about 2700 dollars. Forget getting a used one, not going to happen, it is more cost effective to buy a new one because competition is so heavy for used right now the prices are going up (see Geo Metro). MY Pamplona was 3100 but I put on accesories so with all and TTL it was 3800 dollars. I took a loan for 3k (I didn't NEED to but did it for my credit) and the payment is 90 bucks a month. IN the first two hundred miles I spent about 12 bucks on gas. In either of my cars I would have spent close to 40-50. My Buddy goes 80 mh but I don't need to drive it that fast. It is zippy when I need it. I got a motorcycle learning permit and took the test for 22 bucks. Complete insurance coverage is 136 bucks.

I also ride with gear. Leather legs helmet cordura padded jacket and gloves.

I LOVE MY SCOOTER.
