Re: Smoking banned in your own CAR!!Quote

This is awesome!
It sickens me to see people smoking in their cars with an infant in the back and the windows rolled up.

The fact that people do this to children or ANYONE scares the shit out of me AND I smoke!

In Washington state we have a no smoking within 25ft of an entrance to any building. again i think this is great!
Even though i smoke i don't want to walk out of a store or restaurant and get hit in the face by a bunch of smokers and thats about courtesy.

By all means smoke the f*ck up but KEEP YOUR SMOKE TO YOURSELF! and keep it away from children especially.

Bump that fine up, Go Canada!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 451075

I can't believe I survived my children. If we went anywhere in the winter, both my parents smoked with the windows shut tight. It was torture and only, because of the smell. All of us children survived it. We had no health problems, because of it fortunately.

Re: Smoking banned in your own CAR!!Quote

I smoked about 5 cigarettes a day at most and was fine for 8 years and enjoyed smoking, then this year in March i started getting breathing problems at night, I would go to sleep and wake up gasping for air. Then i started getting nervous feelings in my chest and small sharp stabbing pains around my heart. After this i quit smoking for 2 weeks. The breathing problems continued for a few days after quitting and then went away.

After 2 weeks i smoked again and the sharp stabbing chest pains returned that same day only ten times worse, the pain felt like a squeezing ache on the left side of my neck that radiated to my chest, the chest pain felt like a massive rock had just landed on my heart and crushed it.

I have not touched a cigarette since then, that was back in April and i still get those chest pains whenever i walk places or run a small distance.

I fear i might drop dead of a heart attack every day, and for what? 8 years of inhaling toxic fumes, not worth it.

Smoking 5 (or even 55) cigs a day over the course of a lifetime doesn't cause the symptoms you've experienced. What DOES cause each and every symptom you've described, however, is an anxiety disorder. A long time ago I went through a bout of generalized anxiety disorder and I had the exact same things happen to me. Before I figured out what was happening I'd progressed into having panic attacks as well. On several occasions I was certain I was having a heart attack and even went to the emergency room a couple times - convinced that I was on death's doorstep. My EKGs and EEGs were all perfectly normal and the docs always diagnosed me with anxiety disorder. I had the hardest time believing that something as simple as anxiety could cause so much physical discomfort, but in the end I had no choice but to accept that this was the case. I smoked through this problem, and continued to smoke through the past decade or so since the problem was solved.

So, your health isn't ruined. An anxiety disorder is an emotional problem that stems from one's inability to property manage feelings of either fear or guilt (or both). Since you think your way into this disorder, you can also think your way out of it. The best way to rid yourself of this problem is to educate yourself about it and then face it down. And, if anything, smoking would be a great help in keeping you calm (natural MAOI inhibitor in the smoke itself) as you work through your issues.

No, I am the poster you quoted and i wish it was only anxiety related and could still smoke but the problem is in my neck.

I have a hard/clogged artery from smoking, this means that when i do something to increase my heart rate, like excercise or running, there is not enough blood circulation getting to my heart and this causes heart attacks. I need to take medication from now on or it wil get worse and block completely, if this happens i will die. Thanks to smoking.

Of course. The medical profession blames everything on smoking. If your toe hurts, it's because of smoking. As the previous poster stated, 5 cigs. a day will not hurt you. Anything in moderation will not hurt you. Some people have weaknesses to clogged arteries. If you had never smoked, what would be the excuse then?

When I was a kid (a long time ago when we were free), both of my parents smoked in the car. It did us no harm. All three of us grey-haired panthers are still alive and kicking!

You dumb bells who like to see laws passed that curtail someone else's rights shall have what's comin' to ya. And I hope you get it full in the face.

want this kind of shit to stop?...all smokers have to do is stand together....when you have a kid in the car, just stop in the granny lane, put on the 4 ways, step behind the car and light up....ill bet the "impeding the flow" ticket is less....or open the hood, before you light up..when you're done, or the cop shows to hassle you, stub out the butt, get in the drivers seat, and start her up..."wow, musta been vapor locked".....enough folks do it, it will affect traffic flow...cant give you a ticket if the car wouldnt start...lol

Here in Pennsylvania, it is the same here. However, as of September 11th 2008, the same applies to cars as well. As well, it applies to any objector of smoking even if it is in your own car. In that respect the law is vague but enforceable. I know a fellow who had to go to court over such a thing. Not a car but, he had extensive knowledge of the bill going into the court room.

It was about smoking in his private office, he lost.

Civil liberties out the door!

Smoking cigarettes is legal
