They are old enough, they were brought over from Texas in September 2022. The oldest was 8 months old, and the youngest 5 months.

They have to be at least 2years and 1 day old to be burnt for ashes.

Earliest they qualified was January 2024.

Things will progress, but a temple does not have to be built to fulfil this. Only the AC is in the Holy Place (which the mount is referred to) and he shuts the daily sacrifices down.

The sacrifices only need an altar. They could do those whilst preparing and/or building their temple. The AC swoops in, stands on the site, it's broadcast throughout the world as he gets it shut down.

And people will cheer, and be fooled by him.
